That is true. But also notice how Phil also picks teams with emerging top 20 all time talent? Yeah, he took a good team and turned them into championship teams, no doubt, but I don't see him rebuilding a team. Nor do I see him changing his philosophy like Pop has done. Im a Spurs fan, Ive seen the change from the 4-down with Duncan to the most beautiful offense I've ever seen that we have today. A system that wins without talent. Coaches need talent, but I'd love to see how many championships Pop wins with Phil Jacksons talent pool. I'd dare say that the Shaq Kobe Lakers would have stayed together longer.

I believe one of the reasons that the Spurs were so successful as a team is that their most important players (Duncan, Ginobili and Parker) had personalities that matched perfectly with the type of coach Pop is, being the 3 of them really hard working, resilient and unselfish guys, putting collective goals above individuals. I don´t wanna throw names, but am not sure if other "diva-like" superstars would have a good time with this man coaching them.

I just said “I don’t want to bother you, but I’m a big fan.” He said you’re not bothering me… bought me a beer….and had an incredibly friendly conversation with him. All the while signing autographs and taking pictures with anyone who asked. I was shocked…. he was so warm and friendly and made me feel like we’d known each other for years. Asked about my wife, my kids, my friend getting married….if I was gonna object lol. Talked for a half hour. Salt of the Earth type of man…. Legend. Fucking...LEGEND. I wish everybody had enough resolve to give a perpetual "fuck you" to the media in the same manner that this great man does. Is there any surprise that the Spurs block out all that media-driven bullshit that plagues and compromises other locker rooms? Dude is a gangsta in EVERY sense of the word, and his gang don't fuck around either. As an OKC fan, I am so fucking jealous. Mainly because I just KNOW that if the Thunder had a coach with just 1/3 of the amount of tact and basketball IQ that Pop has, they would have broken through already. If POP had DURANT and WESTBROOK? I am a huge Lakers Fan, but Gregg Popovich wins coach of the decade. He's incredible, his relationship with his players truly reflect on the the player's incredible performance. His players or his WHOLE entire staff and team give him his utmost respect. And he's such a badass.

Does anyone hear Steve Kerr when listening to Pop? It’s fascinating how much Steve has incorporated Pop’s phrases and mannerisms into his coaching!

foureleven86 Um, no, if you follow the Spurs or Rockets at all, you should know it's one of the bigger rivalries in the NBA, a feud going all the way back to the early 90's when it was Hakeem vs DRob. The Rockets have finally put together a team that can match-up with the Spurs.
