I love Crystal Cove State Park. If you take Poles up from the canyon you get a nice steep climb or East Cut Off for a less steep but longer climb. You can easily criss cross around and build any customized workout you want and not be that far from a bathroom of water. The ridge trails have great views as well. My favorite.

Yea, there are a ton of great options, I agree. I have plans in the near future to get guides up for all major Crystal Cove routes up, including some ones from the (free) entrance at Coastal Peak Park.
