I suggested an overview of this book when it was released. Thank you Omar for this informative video. I like how you referred these artists as " masters". That they are. The detail on Heath's tank is photo realistic. I too would love an omnibus of DC war, like a variety of titles in one book. The old 80pg. Sgt. Rock Battle Stars comes to mind. Fingers crossed for this and also Make war no more.

When will DC publish some of their war comics in Omnibus format? Even a DC Finest format GI Combat or Sgt Rock would be welcome!

Darn it DC it's too early in the year to get my pockets picked. They had to put Russ heath in there. Our Army at War # 244 is one of my favorite comics of all-time.

What a gorgeous book. It doesn't get much better than guys like Joe Kubert, Jack Kirby, Russ Heath, John Severin and Alex Toth. That's a Mt. Rushmore of legendary talent and then some. Omnis would be nice but I really hope we get some DC Finest that collects a bunch of these old war comics, the format seems perfect for those. Same with westerns, luckily I think we're getting some old silver age sci-fi in that format.

This was easily a day one buy for me. It’s unbelievable how criminally under-reprinted the DC war material is, especially Joe Kubert and Sgt Rock. Why do you think this is? Is it as simple as DC doesn’t think this material will sell? This stuff is easily DC’s artistic, if not necessarily literary, high point.

I wonder about that too. Fear of low sales seem to be part of it but I wonder if this generation of editors and corporate types just don't understand the significance of those comics or creators anymore.

@@Krypton_Ken the old DC archives line started strong printing four volumes of Sgt. Rock and 2 volumes of Enemy Ace, but sadly DC’s commitment to that line stopped when Paul Levitz left DC.

Why didn’t DC publish this book under their own imprint? Does it have a lot of wartime bigotry in it?
@NearMintConditionКүн бұрын
It’s an artist edition.

@@NearMintCondition And DC doesn't release those? Sorry, I don't know the details about what gets published and what doesn't and who does and who doesn't? That's why I am a fan of this channel!

@@ProfessorEchoMediaDC and Marvel both have their artist editions published by IDW. There’s a lot of work that goes into putting one together and their collected editions departments probably can’t handle the additional work
