I enjoy watching this program for the talent involved but was uncomfortable when it came to the makeovers. Hair and make-up are sensitive topics for most women, irrespective of age; but it’s more acute when a woman is young and so much is riding on it. And while team imaging is certainly necessary given the DCC brand, a bit more sensitivity is called for. I found it disingenuous to see that Kelli clearly knew what sew-in extensions were and what they looked like when she referenced “little friends back there” as she ran her hands through a young woman’s hair but then feigned ignorance and surprise at learning about the sew-in weaves two other prospects had. These processes are essentially the same thing and in all of the situations, as shown, had been installed in similar fashions-the extensions and the weaves had to be cut out and detached from the wearer’s head. Kelli’s approach to handling and conversing about the extensions/weaves didn’t present a good look for her particularly since she’s been involved with these make-overs for such a long time. And to call someone trashy and stripper looking -and on camera-was unnecessary, insensitive, and unprofessional. I hope this isn’t happening in 2022!
