I had the honor and the privilege of being one of eight backup singers for Dean’s show for six wonderful years. What you saw of Dean in his entertaining persona is exactly how he was to work with, warm, charming and funny. No ego stuff. It was like working with one big happy family every week. Such great memories. RIP, Dean, I truly miss you.

For the most part those times were no more innocent than these times -only our awareness of what is happening has changed --dramatically.As-- a victim of childhood rape -I speak from experience- and I know many other’s who suffered from back in the good old day’s .It was just easier for the bad shit to be hidden -Innocent times never existed- But the entertainment these shows provided was a great relief from the reality of day to day life and for that I am grateful.

KZbin is the best thing to happen to entertainment since the invention of television. @moon beam even dean Martin said that the reason 6 of his top 20 song were Christmas songs and 5 were written by Glenn Cambell in the '60s. His rendition of Honey, easy on my mind, and By the time I get to Phoenix were the best. I loved Dean in Matt Helm and some of his Jerry Lewis movies. But the crooner era of music was horrible. Only Crooners who transitioned to modern music continued to attract fans. Earlier rap was okay, but rap became too commercialized. Earlier country good. Early rock good. But the real trash is modern rock and country. However, I know trash is in the ears of the listener. I do play some classical on the piano and guitar, but that usually just for my dad who was a big band era trumpeter who taught me Benny Goodman,Glenn Miller and other big band music which is also very good IMO.

@@robertlove8593 - You also jump to conclusions. I play six instruments and sing. My taste in music includes classical, opera, Broadway musicals, rag time, big band, jazz, blues, rhythm & blues, Motown, old and new rock and roll from the 50s till present, classic country, some folk-heavy metal bands like The HU, environmental meditation, and yes old-time classic crooners like Bing, Frank, and Deano. Lots of great entertainment, for sure. But, as a woman, life wasn't so jolly. Few women had jobs outside the home, and they were limited to nursing or teaching. Women were not encouraged in business, science, politics. A married woman could not have her own checking account or credit card until the 1970's. They came only in her husband's name. A woman normally could not buy a house or land on her own. There was no such thing as marital rape. Any female rape victim was normally victimized again, she "asked for it." There was little police intervention in domestic abuse. Women were told to allow their men to be "boys will be boys," and sleep around, but if SHE did it, the roof came down on her head. "Divorcee" was a put-down, only applied to women. The "Feminist movement,"was condemned by church and politicians alike, as trying to destroy America. We owe those brave females our relative freedoms today. Just a note from personal experience.

The clip with Goldie and Dean was beautiful. You could tell by how close they was together that Goldy was completely comfortable with Dean physically. Dean was, Dean was just wow. He had this magic about him, he devoted himself to the person that was infront of him and gave them his full attention. Now that was cool, and I think Dean wrote the book on cool and class. He was a man that could take any random situation and turn it into pure comedy genius. Goldie and Dean had only just met on the show, for the first time, so yes, remarkable rapport. Joe Namath described Carson as a "mean drunk", and in the next sentence said that Dean was a "wonderful experience". Johnny and Dean were nothing alike, in fact I suspect that Dean sort of ran Johnny's show aground (in the white suit) after Johnny put Dean's friend Wayne Newton through it by publicly calling him gay on his show Note that in that show where Dean had the white suit on he pretty much continually made jokes about being gay himself, and Carson lost control of the show.

Much as I enjoy these shows , I'm still considering dropping this "service" because of the way they mess up things, like inserting Chinese characters in Google.

Apart from Frank calling Johnny Mathis the 'African Queen'... that was pretty trashy. Obviously felt threatened. And rightly so as Johnny was still producing great albums into his 6th decade. After blue eyes was long dead.
