The idea is that you're able to quickly change your pace as necessary, making your dribble choppy and unpredictable. Takes a really good eye and clear mind to be able to defend that, and when you're exhausted mid game with him doing that in front of you, you're getting cooked

But over a game with fucking hard screens, non stop sprinting and instant recognition of plays, no mere mortal would stand a chance. Same thing in soccer with freestylers having more tricks than messi, ronaldo etc. In the real game, those (freestylers) guys would be lost.
