It was family entertainment. We could watch with our parents and grandparents and everyone laughed. I do miss that type of entertainment. On a side note, I use to want Donny and Marie dolls and stage so bad back then but my parents were a very young couple and it took every penny they earned for us to get by. Always had a roof over my head and meals at dinner time so we were more fortunate than others.

My brother (Jimmy) and I would sit in front of the TV at our grandparent's house every Friday night to watch the Donny and Marie show. I cried at the end of the last episode. Thanks for the memories! :)

such great entertainers, and currently closing out 11 years working their show in Vegas in 2019. Just amazing.
@63DW89A5 жыл бұрын
+Doug Breau absolutely correct about the hardworking part. Funny thing is I am not a fan of Donny, or Marie as individual acts. But I am a big fan of them together as "Donny&Marie". Something unique, special, cute and charming about the two of them together, especially then they were teenagers doing the "D&M Show". It is obvious they were genuinely having fun working with each other doing their skits together. Even at such a young age, that close bond gave them an amazing instinctive rapport that could only exist between a brother and sister who had been constant playmates and companions in childhood.

Its was definitely unique and an innocent era and this is what we need now I'm a 70s child its was beautiful
@fluffy19314 жыл бұрын
innocent era, what planet did u come from. Vietnam War still raging along anti-war protest, Ohio National Guard was using the students at Kent State for target practice circa May 4, 1970. The Tricky Dick Nixon administration was about to implode over Watergate Scandal. You might have forgotten that the dawn of the AIDS epidemic started in the mid- to late 1970s. Also beautiful was Zebra Killer & Jim Jones death cult aka' 'JOnes Town' mass suicide fest, etc.

+Sue Colden Probably Donny & Marie were each others' support system. Watching them together is heartwarming, as it is clear they had a lot of fun with each other as a teen-aged brother and sister on the show. In recent interviews about their Vegas show, I've heard Marie say several times, that she and Donny can look at each other's eyes and know what the other is thinking. So they have a uniquely close, strong brother-sister bond. Looking back at the D&M show, I feel the close male-female, brother-sister bond and dynamic is what made the D&M show so successful. Any other combination of Osmond siblings would not have worked for the show. Only Donny and Marie had the close bond and unique connection to each other that could survive and succeed in that incredibly busy, insane work hour environment. That unique, close bond is what Fred Silverman at ABC recognized in D&M when they were co-hosting the Mike Douglas Show, and why Silverman was certain that D&M could host a variety TV show, even though they were only teenagers.
