There are two Jonny Craigs: godlike performance or forget the lyrics and throw up on stage.

The problem was that as his bandmate you have no idea which one is going to come out on a given night.

What Jonny does that is so special is heated or cooked vocals. Shit he taught me how to do it. I might be the only person that can do it and hold a similar register as him. Glad I got to work with Jonny. There will only be one Jonny though.
@k1xnt Жыл бұрын
You mean how he controls the distortion in his notes? That's a big part of it for me, but my favorite thing about Jonnys vocals is his insane runs. The way he dances with the word 'way' in the 'fight for you this way' line. Outside of some rnb or gospel singers, you just don't hear that creativity and power
@youarefinished Жыл бұрын
How to do it? I'm trying to do this in so much time.
@chillwauwau Жыл бұрын
@@k1xntDistortion is something you do in post. Jonny does it in person. But it’s a vocal technique that can’t necessarily be taught until someone learns how to use their voice. Jonny has pioneered a unique sound in post hardcore etc. He is self taught as am I. I truly recommend listening to product G&B among other R&B artists. Jonny uses his diaphragm more than the average R&B singer though due to the sustained notes he does. so take that into mind.

Soooooo many goosebumps Growing up in Sacramento, and always chasing the local band scene, what a shame I seemed to have missed him and said band then... Caught Slaves at a dive downtown sometime 2019 . Like the up close and personal kind .. he was chillin in a booth downstairs at the bar, I was getting drink, back turned. While I waited a sec, I turn to say hi. He was 3 ft from me, 2 people on each side of him. Chill friends? Couple dudes and a chick. Point being, I turned to say what's up and he was super, dickheadish! Seems we have a consensus
