And Pokemon has been passed to the B team of the company {last i heard, around Sword/Shield release time}, A team is working on something else now. Hence the decline in quality of the games. Popularity is one thing, but the truth is, it really seems like they are starting to scrape the barrel for ideas, which is why we are seeing drastic changes to the pokemon format. Arceus was a massive change to the game formula, and whilst i hope that trend continues, i doubt we will get anything that can touch the quality of what has come to pass, without massive investment from the parent company, which seems reluctant to do so on a franchise that has lasted far longer then they probably expected. All that said, the amount of hate the newer games has been getting, is disproportionate to the actual issues people have with them. Its not "Freak out" worthy, Arin doing it for comedy is one thing, but people in general doing it are just children.

@@tangsprell1812 I've never had a complaint about Pokemon's graphics until now, even with Sword and Shield, I thought it was alright, and I especially liked OR/AS graphics. Pokemon isn't that kind of franchise that needs amazing graphics anyways, so I've always considered the graphics kinda meh, not great by any stretch but not bad either. But the Diamond and Pearl remakes look like dogshit, and it's absolutely insulting that Nintendo actually approved this and didn't tell them to go back and fix this shit, it's embarrassing how bad it looks. Idk how they messed it up either. For the out of battle graphics they were obviously inspired by this game but messed it up, and for the in-battle graphics they were obviously inspired by Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee and messed that up too, which blows my mind since it's from the same damn franchise so just straight up copying it would've been fine..

Pokemon has a ridiculously small development staff for one of the largest franchises in the world, something that only makes sense when you start to understand that, as a series, it's design to push out new designs they can sell merchandise of, more than it functions as a way to innovate, break new ground, or actually work to get players interested. Pokemon fans, unfortunately, have become the jailers for the Pokemon franchise; endlessly buying the new games and defending them, hyping them up etcetera, despite the flaws... it's really what's been letting Nintendo get away with it for so long.
