More about Gianmarco:
Gianmarco Soresi is a stand-up comedian, actor, and a little too much for some people. He’s told jokes on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Comedy Central, Netflix’s Bonding, Don’t Tell, The Real Housewives of New York for some reason, and he was a JFL New Face in 2022. He’s acted in Billy Crystal’s Here Today, Hustlers, The Last OG, and in his theater days shared the stage with some people who’ve gone on to become huge real estate agents. You can see him post the kind of crowdwork clips that are arguably destroying the artform of stand-up comedy everywhere @gianmarcosoresi and he obviously has a podcast called The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi.🎤

Yeah from what I understand, clowning is kind of like, a method actor, where they sort of become a different person once they put on the makeup. It's weird to do it outside of the uniform. Almost like asking an olympic swimmer to swim, but in his jeans and sweater. He can still do it, but its not as graceful or fast as he would be in his speedo, swim cap, and goggles.

The bell ringing does tell the time. There are four funky little tunes corresponding to quarter past, half past, quarter two, and the hour, then when it is on the hour (which has the longest jingle), big ben is rung a number of times for the hour. (the biggest bell in the tower we casually call big ben, the tower itself not having a name until 2012 till it was officially named Elizabeth Tower). Given you hit 61 bells, I'm going to guess your show (by that point) was about an hour long starting about 10. 16 bell jingle before the show began. Show began. 10 bells for the hour. 4 bell jingle for quarter past. 8 bell jingle for half past. 12 bell jingle for quarter to. 16 bell jingle on the hour. 11 bells for the hour. 10+4+8+12+16+11 = 61 bells.

lmao I'm UU and that was hilarious. Because she was put on the spot she didn't explain it the best, but OWL is amazing sex ed that teaches kids about alternative family models like having gays parents or only having one parent, and teaches kids to be outspoken if they are being abused, and when she said "we saw everything" she meant we don't shame body parts or use euphemisms. Kids are taught an honest anatomy lesson and taught not to be embarrassed by their bodies.

We don't take confrontation well? Its confrontation. Its not a good thing. Why would we take it well? It something that can very much ruin your day. I also don't take people urinating on me well.

in islam sufism seem great but then you're expected to praise mohammad as your pure and top morality guy. in christianity quakerism and uu seem great but then you're expected to pretend you believe jesus saved you for hell, and also to pretend you believe in hell. there's always some fine print.

Universalism means universal salvation. It means that everyone goes to heaven, either immediately after death or after some learning & repentance. UUs today don’t have to believe in Jesus or hell. It has roots in Christianity but a lot of UUs are atheist or pagan or whatever. There’s no set creed, only values and principles.

@@catsmom129 well, that IS a creed. fine print: you're expected to believe in a certain afterlife, or at least pretend you do. (sorry i was inaccurate about which afterlife it is) how does this belief fit with atheism? do they do the "oh it's all metaphors" bit?
@catsmom129
@catsmom129 Күн бұрын
@ No, let me try again. UUism *originated* from two sects/offshoots of Christianity - Unitarianism and Universalism. From those roots it eventually became more secular. So *now,* you’re not required to believe in God or an afterlife. My point was that Universalism sprung from critiques of hell, especially eternal conscious torment. (There’s different versions of Universalism.) So, no, Universalists *don’t* have to believe in hell - that’s their whole thing.

@ okay, no mandatory belief in hell, nice! do you have to believe in heaven though? maybe that's what i don't understand
@catsmom129
@catsmom129 Күн бұрын
@ no you don’t have to believe in heaven. It’s very open on religious issues. It’s about the individual journey towards truth Edit: to be clear, UUs don’t need to believe in heaven. UUism is now a mostly non-Christian church, just with Christian roots. Christian Universalists typically do believe in heaven.
