55:14 this markg3650 doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The exit he took to get there says either ‘Works Exit Only’ or ‘Emergency Vehicles Only’. The only people who can pass through them or park in them are emergency services & the highways agency vehicles. He’s taken a truck into it & is using it as a rest area. Earlier on the video, the clip beginning at around 9:59 showed the Highways Agency (rightly) telling him he wasn’t allowed in those areas, now he’s got police officers also telling he can’t be there, and he just gets gobby with them, closes his door/window to them, and has the audacity to write “that’s the policeman illegally banging on my door interrupting a daily rest”, and then tells the police to come back at 11 I’ clock (which is 5 hours after the time in this video). Since when did he get made chief of the roads & no rules apply to him? Hope he loses his licence for his basic lack of knowledge (or deliberate flouting) of the Highway Code. He hasn’t ’defeated’ the officers at all, they’ll report him for the offence of causing an obstruction by parking in a restricted area and on a solid white line. Sheer pig-headed ignorance.

I've said it before and, doubtless, I'll say it again ... there is a profound difference between those drivers (like me) who make genuine mistakes and those other drivers who deliberately choose to make others' lives worse while making their own better. @stephenwalker682310 ай бұрын

#136, and I think he had one earlier. Ref HGV driver parking at the side of the road and getting shirty with Plod - “From 1 November 2017, DVSA will start to fine drivers up to £300 if they spend their full weekly rest break in their vehicle in places where it causes a problem. For example, if a lorry driver spends their full break in the cab of their lorry in a layby.” In other words, the DVSA wants drivers to be having meaningful rest and recharging time during their breaks, not just more time scrunched up in their cabs. The DVSA states that rest stops can be used in the cab of the vehicle, provided that the vehicle is parked in a suitable location. For a suitable location - read somewhere with adequate toilet, showering and food facilities. So an actual service station as opposed to the side of the road. While this might seem like a trivial distinction, it’s not, and the DVSA are taking it very seriously. So much so that road traffic patrols will be regularly checking common offence spots, and tachographs will now need to be monitored to ensure that rest stops are being taken in approved places.

3:21 is an interesting one legally. My brother once got a Police warning for driving "against the arrows" in Asda carpark, Leicester. We checked with a lawyer to see is this really was an offence - and were told it was a "grey area". What was confirmed is that UK road traffic laws and the highway code do not differentiate between private and publicly owned property - applying to both if they are "designated for use by the public". The grey area was whether the road markings were clear and legally applied.

29: Driver was completely in the wrong and deserves the report, Works services only junction, parked within 10m of a junction, and he should have stopped at the previous service station for his 45 break, needs to learn time management, also the Donkey was wrong in that is NOT a live lane of the motorway network between the 2 highlighted signs.

They had a point, but not an enforceable one, its an information sign not a compliance one, these slip roads usually accompany a vehicle prohibition sign but for whatever reason isn't there, unlike other works roads. Either way i think the driver won his case as the "End of Motorway Regulations sign" has actually been moved to the entrance to the works unit, so the road is now deemed a complete slip road.

I recognised the clip @30:46, it's Hulme End in Staffordshire. It is definitely not from November 2023 because the double sign just beyond the tree had gone by then and the green Hulme End Campsite one had been relocated from the field to the roadside just before the bridge.

1:03:26 totally agree with that video !!! i dont drive with truck but usually when im on motorway and some truck coming from slip road i just straight away move my ass to another line to make situation more easy for everyone and i have only one life !!! even if truck trying change the line better is give it way because simply if someone will do mistake under truck will nothing left from car and bye bye life !!!

Been in Scotland a few days. As a Dutch driver i'm so totally confused by the road signs! First a got a nice sign what directs meto Glasgow, after that it's only white signs to local areas i guess, and then no signs at all only poor written and wore off signs on the road. How the hell can i can at my destination without gps? Do something about it! and btw: it's all over England the same!!

Lorries constantly indicate to change lane expecting others to make space for them tbh. I move the fuck out of the way 'cause what choice do I have?
@davecommentator11 ай бұрын
#54 is just outside my home town - the main issue with that roundabout is, if you are going across on the minor road which crosses the A5, everyone will just assume you're going onto the A5 like 99% of the traffic does and pull out in front of you. I've nearly been T-boned there many times (and I also very nearly got hit head-on once on the lane just off to the left). As for the Ka in the clip, almost certainly the prat will have been looking at their FUCKING phone.

48:32 That's Carlisle, I'm on that roundabout everyday. It's a bad one for poor lane discipline. Can be a bit confusing if you're on it for the first time and it's always busy. I think that's probably why
@SpanielRacing28 ай бұрын
9:59 There’s a big blue sign showing “works exit only.” So why are *you* pulling into it?! You are clearly in the wrong. Those lanes are for nobody except the emergency services & the highways agency. The fact that your tacho time was up is down to you, purely your fault for not planning your journey better to stop at a designated place to park up. Exactly the same as you wouldn’t park on someone’s driveway or outside the doors of an ambulance station just because your tacho time was up. You’re a professional driver, I can’t believe you uploaded a clip of your own poor judgement & are somehow trying to claim the moral high ground. 🤦♂️

I find it really interesting that even accidents that result in serious monetary consequences can be de-escalated by having the right attitude. We were rammed in the back on a bridge by a young chap in his bosses new truck. He was panicking, but we saw no point in making the situation worse, we just worked with each other towards a good outcome for all of us. It's so simple. (When injury result, minor or major, emotions are expected though that is truly understandable but still manageable with good thinking ability).

5:00 - That is Barrow Gurney in Bristol. It's a pain in the arse when people sit in the right-hand lane and then don't make progress. The mini definitely was far too impatient, but I've been caught behind a slow driver there in the past overtaking a big lorry and it's damned scary! If you're going to be slow pulling away, then keep left!
