@z-beeblebrox8 жыл бұрын
The Beanie Baby craze, and all those other speculative-market crazes from the 90s were entirely fueled by baby boomers being scarred for life because their parents all threw away their first-edition Action Comics 1, original Star Wars figurines, and all those other things that turned out to be worth thousands of dollars when they grew up (even though the only reason they're worth that much in the first place was because their parents threw them away). @@johnt.campbell316 Not even close. Beanie Babies were NOTHING. Brilliant idea selling a children cuddle toy (designed to be a cheaply made, cheaply sold item which is acknowledged to be ruined by children within a year or two) as an exclusive collectors item (which is cheaply made, sold for high dollar, and bonus points people now jerked themselves into a froth treating these like collectibles, they'll take immaculate care of them and make future ones more able to fetch your top dollar), but they relied entirely on the seemingly endless and unconquerable ability for humans to be a moron. I mean, I just started a job at a thrift store. We have at least 1 giant plastic storage bin, plus 3 milk crate sized cubby holes by stuffed animals, plus another smaller bin with just McDonalds ones. That's only the stuff that's out in the store. There are 2 more full sized bins and another full one of McDonalds in the back. And that's only the stuff that was there when I started a month ago. McDonalds bin is getting stuffed full and there's a 3rd that's been started. People still don't give a shit about the things. intrinsically
@Zenon0K4 жыл бұрын
I don't know why my reply got cut off, but I made a point about Funko Pops at the very least holding value because you can display them. Even if you grow out of it and give up a large collection of the "kiddy" Pokemon stuff or a giant wall of in the box, someone else will buy and display them themselves. No one above the age of 20 owns more than one Beanie Baby (98% of which would be a childhood toy you can't throw away, 1% of them will be like my mom putting a hippo on her dashboard as an inside joke, and the other 1% have a box in a closet they will never open because it was their parents investment in their future). But if an elite businessman in a swanky Manhattan office and get away with having a Peter Venkman or Batman or Michael Jackson pop on your bookcase, anyone can. That's why Funko's are just above "worthless"ness. Might have no real purpose at all and I might think they are idiotic, but I understand they can display and they're essentially advertising.

I'd just like to note that Jack was 100% correct. Richard Steven Horvitz, voice of Invader Zim himself, was in "Get Street Smart: A Kid's Guide to Stranger Danger" as Corny. IMDb lists his role as "Capricorn", which explains the name Corny. This was shortly after his work in the English dubbing of Pom Poko, the Ghibli movie about the racoons that bounce around on their nutsacks.
@MagiMCull9 ай бұрын
It's been 7 years since this video released, I know, but I just thought I'd let you all know that Corny *is*, in fact, voiced by Richard Horvitz, voice actor of Invader Zim. Jack was right.

I don't think they should stop; the wheels are the best episodes; I find learning about all these obscure videos interesting. I do think they should wait a bit before doing it again, because, I've seen fatigue setting in through the wheel episodes. you notice that, hiv / aids, and, hangin with Leo disapeared between 11 and 12 , and, there was a completely new set this time. it shows that more and more often they are passing on reviewing videos , when at first it seemed they just took the brunt of whatever they got. I could actually stand to see a retrospective of videos they passed on in previous epiodes, a " worst of the worst" out take vid.

I've kinda come to face the truth that SBF content has drooped a bit. I think I need to listen to the podcast again to get back into them cause the LPs aren't really doing it lately. It's not that anything is worse, it's just that it isn't changing or evolving. All they need is for Pat to say those thoughts out loud, then Crazy Talk can activate and things will improve

Y'know, I hadn't thought of this before, but Jay's comment during the Stranger Danger tape, "I guess molesters aren't picky," is actually 100% correct, because they aren't. Ohhhhhh myyyyyyy goooooooooood! After rewatching this video, I realized I think you're really onto something as there are 9 circles of hell. And this video features 8 VHS. Eeeeeekkk! I think the missing 9th one is a clue. But to what? What does it all mean?!?! *chews off fingers* ...Maybe RLM is trying to tell us what they really feel, what represents them. *attempts to solve the mystery* 1st video) Stranger Danger possibly represents the Second Circle/Lust since there's a creepy pedo lusting after some scary alien kid. Bleck! 2nd video) Safe Crossing may represent the First Circle/Limbo since it feels like you're in limbo while watching. 3rd video) Amazing Things possible represents the Sixth circle/Heresy. After the artsy opening, the video seemed disrespectful to art itself. 4th video) Nightmare on Drug Street maybe represents the Seventh Circle/Violence. It's often portrayed that drugs lead to violence. 5th video) Traveling with Ooga Booga represents Ninth circle/Treachery cos Ooga Booga's hardly in this. 6th video) Just Kidding definitely represents Fourth circle/Greed. The video was slapped together to make an easy profit. 7th video) Bear Attacks is an easy one. It represents the Third circle/Gluttony as there were plenty of bears eat humans jokes. 8th video) How to Spot Counterfeit Beany Babies represents the Eighth circle/Fraud - well, title speaks for itself! And I know, one would think RLM would be implying they're the fraudsters, but this clearly isn't the case. So, we're left with one: Fifth Circle/Anger. Oh, is that all? RLM is angry? Oh ok... Shit! That wasn't at all enlightening...
@santanacaviedes20068 жыл бұрын
The Fifth Circle is the episode of Wheel of the Worst itself. All this what clearly means is that tey are all dead and/or are trying to summon Satan.

31:25 Man. the contrast from that intro song to the paper hat folding, without music, man, I laughed so hard I got tears in my eyes, great stuff! XD I agree with the bald guy, collecting something that can be used for something makes sense, like dvd-movies, music records, cups, boardgames etc. Collecting coins, stamps, etc just seems a bit pointless, but if it brings you joy, by all means go for it. If you collect purely out of speculation and "it's an investment", why not just spend your time on the stock market instead of inflating the prices artificially and ruin a hobby for others by making it inaccessible?

I remember watching that dinosaur egg video in elementary school, probably around 1991. It was a big assembly with the whole grade. It honestly didn't strike me as anything unusual or weird (because I was 6 or so), I just remember wanting to see the egg hatch into a dino and it never happened.
@justinthehut5 жыл бұрын
So I am the kid in the video and I shit you not. It was first grade if I remember correctly, and I don't recall the bus driver as being the director - I remember it being an asian guy. Also I cried because they made me kiss some lady that wasn't my mom, I was mad because they wouldn't let me eat Lucky Charms cereal during a scene because I wasn't allowed to eat it at home and thought I would finally be able to have Lucky Charms, and also I scraped my knees from doing that scene where I drop the egg in front of the bus like 12 times. I swear to you that is me. AMA!
