Beyond the wall he didn't kill Ygritte because she was a woman and let her distract him and lead him into an ambush, because, guess what, he knew nothing. Jon Snow knowing nothing is very important to the story (especially in the books), because only by knowing nothing, the effects of him later knowing some things and far later on knowing a lot of things are shown so beautifully. The way he later on plans, manipulates and always thinks of the bigger picture is part of his journey to become a man worthy of being a King through hard trial and error instead of being raised to the position like FAegon and Robb (and let's face the truth: Robbs education as future Lord of Winterfell was lacking, not surprising though as there are things only the Lord can teach his heir and said Lord wasn't alive to teach him when it was needed the most and was only a second son himself (I'm absolutely sure there are some Stark secrets, similar to the Targaryen secret (Aegon only conquering Westeros because he knew a second Long Night would come someday), that were lost, because the Lord and heir died so tragically)). Just imagine a Roose Bolton who raises Jon and fills his head with an endless amount of hate for the Starks and a wish to take Winterfell for himself. Or how about the Mormonts? A submitted woman doesn't do that. The man leads and if he feels its enough, he won't evolved anymore.and will be satisfy with what he already had. It doesn't last because women wants always more and if she doesn't feel what the man did is enough, she will start to look for someone more suitable with her expectation. If the relation last, it would mean that the wife took over her husband and he's the one trully submitted even if he thinks he's in charge. Women have their ways to make their husband comply and the ability to make them believe it's their own choice. And of course, she's satisfied with the situation. If submitted women don't say too many words, it doesn't means they don't think or have any expectation. All in the ambition of the man, if it isn't high, a submitted woman would be enough, if he's ambitious, he will need a woman able to keep him on track when things didn't get as planned to force him to get back on his feet and to try again.
