Nope, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is made from Natural Gas and is tops. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is a bit better than the top Valvoline. I've been purchasing it for less than $24.00 5 quart jug at Walmart, so you're not being honest. I think this video is easily spotted as a Valvoline commercial. You said you aren't being paid but are you getting compensated with free products? How much in products have you gotten for free? You hardly stated anything about Pennzoil and I think that's because you know the top Pennzoil is better than the top Valvoline. You didn't bother to price out the Pennzoil so, that's your tell on what you said. You weren't being truthful. I won't be a subscriber.

Supertec is actually a great oil. Warren company have been making oil since the 1930’s if I am not mistaken. Regardless of what synthetic oil you use, as long as it says API certified on it, you’re okay. Change your oil at regular intervals or more frequently based on driving conditions👍🏽
@arthursmith643

All the oils are good oils. API approval your good to go. The government is up the ass of these oil companies. The guys at Blackstone labs use what’s on sale. Just use the correct weight oil. It says on your oil cap. I use a 5/30 instead of 5/20 because I have high mileage on my vehicle 144,000 Honda Ridgeline a bit thicker is good for compression. If you buy Napa oil your getting Valvoline. Walmart super tech is blended by Warren oil company. Great oil. API approved. Don’t be fooled by pretty jugs and logos.

Regarding Mobile vs the others, people need to understand that things change. Mobile 1 was a *great* oil compared to others a number of years ago, but other manufacturers didn't stand still. They have kept innovating. Pennzoil came out with Platinum and that was a big step forward, and now Valvoline has made changes and are much better than they used to be. We need to stay informed and not become blind to change. Good video!

For awhile, the 5qt jug of Valvoline was the best price because Valvoline offered a $5 rebate on the 5qt jugs. It made a 5qt jug $21.97. The rebate just ended but I picked up a 5qt jug for my truck right before it ended. Now I’m back to getting the Valvoline garage box. Don’t forget to check offers and rebates for these oils.

When you think about it, we are actually placing our lives in the hands of mechanics who work on our cars. A sloppy one or one who cuts corners can put us in harm's way, and a good one can catch a developing problem before it becomes dangerous. I'm sorry for your loss, good friends and good mechanics are hard enough to find, and having someone that's both is truly a blessing.

same here i mostly use supertech high mileage but ill use any variety of the 10k or 20k formula depending on whats in stock at the time. im not sold on the idea that one has to pick a brand and stick with it. that makes no sense to me but i do agree that keeping the oil fresh is the most important part.
@justinbennett2633
@justinbennett2633 Жыл бұрын
Motor oils all have different additives and if you mix different oils they may work against each other. All motor oils are required to be miscible so you won't have catastrophic failure from mixing oils, but over a long period of time it's unhealthy for the engine.

When you drain your oil there's always a little bit left in the engine. I agree that changing from one brand to another is not going to hurt your engine if do it once but if you are always changing from one brand to another brand the different additive packages can cause sludge to build up in your engine. Sticking with one brand is better for your engine in the long run. I run 10w-30 in the summer and 5w-30 in the colder weather and some times blend the two. I have been doing that for years, in the past I ran straight 30w in the summer and 10w-30 in the colder weather.

My wife’s 2004 Lexus RX330 (255K miles) used to burn a quart of oil between oil changes when using Mobil 1. Penzoil is parrafin based. So makes sense. The wax will help stop the leaks. Completely opinionated. But sense penzoil is parrafin based i do not trust it in any of my engines. The wax will sludge your engine and cause premature failure. I would basically trust any other oil over penzoil.

It’s strange but back in the day if a car was use to having Penzoil and then another brand was used, the engine would start burning oil. My dad always told me that if I bought a used vehicle and I didn’t know what brand of oil it was use to, then always use Penzoil, but if I bought a new vehicle, Always use Valvoline. My mechanic also recommends Valvoline. I’ve been using Valvoline for 30+ years now (on new vehicles). In 83 I bought myself an 82 (used) F150 for myself as a high school graduation gift… well I paid for 1/2 of it and my dad paid the rest. At around 150K miles I needed to replace the valve cover gasket and the rear main seal. I asked my mechanic how much he would charge me and back then he quoted me $700. I then asked him how much to rebuild the 300 (4.9L) in line 6cyl. He told me $1500. At that time he was head mechanic for the Post Office and did other mechanical repairs on the side. I was getting about $2K back on my taxes that year so I told him to rebuild the engine. After he had completed the rebuild I asked him what oil should I use. He told me to use Valvoline. I put another 200K miles on that pickup. In 97 Ford changed the body style on the F150. The dealership had a left over 96 XLT super cab long bed with the 300 in line 6cyl, so I got a killer deal on it. That old 300 in line was an AWESOME bulletproof engine. After buying the 96, I kinda retired my 82 to our farm. Years prior I had put 3/4 ton leaf springs in the rear of the 82 as I hauled a lot in the bed. I put just shy of 400K on my 96, of course using Valvoline (conventional oil back then) and changed the oil and filter every 3K miles. I now change the oil and filter every 5K miles with full synthetic.
@simsyonline
@simsyonline Жыл бұрын
Bottom line is that if you change oil regularly, (i.e. every 5k because it's easy to remember, 5, 10, 15, 20, etc), so long as you're not abusive in your usage of the motor, any named oil is going to be just fine. If you're buying oil yourself, you're probably changing it yourself, so mechanic charge isn't a factor... Change regularly and all will be well!

I've used Quaker State for 36 years and have always had good luck with it. I've never had any engine problems from using it. I worked at my dads garage growing up and we always used it. I don't think it gets the credit it deserves. Also Quaker State and Pennzoil are both Shell products. The only difference is the additives. I can honestly say I don't think I'll be going to him and telling him he was right on which oil was best. Talk is cheap, I think I'll go by what's worked for me.

All the full synthetic oils on that shelf meets or exceeds your vehicles specs. You don't need Royal Purple unless you drive a Ferrari. Change your oil every 5000-6000 miles you'll never have to worry. Extended oil changes are bad for your engine regardless the quality of the oil. Long oil change intervals can leave a sticky residue on the engines internal parts. Also, use a synthetic media oil filter, they trap more contaminants.

Of course prices went up since last year. Miss the days of Costco oil being $25 for 10 qts!

I've never had a brand preference. Just used what spec the car required and changed the oil often. Never cared for oil that could go 20k miles or more because I would never go 20k miles on an oil while my car is under warranty or not. My Dad has been using Castrol in his 60 VW bug since new. Just Castrol 30w and 63 yrs later its still going and has never been rebuilt. My Dad just changed the oil often. I have used Mobil, Royal Purple, Redline, Valvoline, most of these through the years. Redline for example, I have a love hate relationship. Depends on the car its being poured into. My 2006 Lancer Evo making 250hp per liter loved Redline, but put Redline in my Wifes Nissan with the VQ40DE and I get timing chain rattle at start up. I used Mobil 1 in a Hyundai and the engine would tik, I put in Castrol Edge the tik went away. So what does all this mean? You find what works for you and you stick with it. If your under warranty follow what you have to do to keep said warranty. Don't overthink it, just use what works. Just my ten cents. Walmart Still has the best prices on oil, not as good as pre covid times, but nothing has been as good price wise since pre covid times right?? Now that's a whole other story🙄

When the base oil is fantastic then the add pack doesn't need to be as robust to meet the specs and standards. They all blend to meet the same specs. Lower quality base oil = higher add pack numbers to meet the same specs. Example is mobil 1 has great base oil so the add pack doesn't need to be as high to meet the specs

As long as you change your oil and filter every 5000 miles any one of those oils on that shelf there will do just fine. Anybody who’s going to try and get 20,000 miles out of an oil change is a fool. It is more important to get the contaminants out, by changing your oil, then it is to have add packs in there to help distribute the contaminants.

The problem with many of the so called high mileage oil is that they have seal "conditioners" in them to help stop leaks and it will swell up seals to do that, it also will make then a bit more pliable from being stiff due to age, but you have to watch out on some of these, they can swell seals a bit too much and their is not going back to get the seal in the proper shape.
@FordBossMe
@FordBossMe Жыл бұрын
Actually they don't have seal conditioners Joseph it's not a seal conditioner like you think and a lot of people need to change the way they think about this stuff because it's not a seal conditioner again what it is it's a higher Ester amount which conditions the seal you need to understand that
@FordBossMe

@@FordBossMe It all can vary and the only for sure to know what is in the product is to look at the MSDS, we might get a good idea but most of us are not chemists. I think you are part right, and since I'm an old fart, I am coming from way back, over 50 years experience and then our family repair shop that my grandad started and taught me. But the real issue I have with these conditioners is how they are over sold to make people think that they do not need to really fix the issue. Whatever is in a seal conditioning product, since ever seal is made of a bit different material, it is impossible to make a one seal conditioner fits all type product. Right now and for the past 40 years, I work as an industrial mechanic and current project is to replace the crank seal on an industrial Ford TSG 416 engine. The TSB says to install the seal DRY, or it will leak. It also has to be left in place without starting it for over 4 hrs. This seal is made of a PTFE combination and in all my years, I never have installed a seal DRY, glad I found the TSB. Their is alot of weird stuff out there.
