We ended up buying the Audi. Price was a huge factor as the Lamborghini and Bentley were both 100k USD more than the Audi. We are happy with it and don’t feel like we are in a car that’s 100 k less .

The Audi is 200k base, the new performance one is over 268k. Urus and Bentley starts at 250k. If u want affordable you go with Gle 63, x5m or Cayenne turbo, all around 140k-190k. Cheaper than audi

I have just ordered a 2024 model, but am worried about ride comfort (as I commute 45 min each way). I currently have the smaller GLC63 and love it but its a ROUGH ride even on the 21's. Do you find your GLE to be decently comfortable on the highway? I plan to get it with the standard 21's...but have also considered the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, as I've driven a few and they are much softer ride. Thanks!!

i thought the x controls would be a pain, but i quickly (24h) got used to them all… .. and plenty of back space in the 5 seats model (center is quite comfortable on long rides). the front doors dont open all the way anymore. 5 seats also has a nice extra compartment in the back which is cool for leaving laptop bag

What a detailed review. This is one of my favorite ever! I wish I could combine parts of all of these to make the ultimate performance luxury SUV. I like the exhaust sound and exterior look of the Bentley. I’m torn between the interiors of the Bentley, Mercedes and the Aston Martin. The Audi seems to be the best value. Tesla Model X. Second row legroom is scarce and the seat is very low to the floor. Doesn’t look comfortable. No way it’s safe to have all of your controls in a screen where you’re forced to constantly be looking away from the road. If you can’t fit in the third row is it really a six seater? I don’t see any luxury in this vehicle at all. Im left wondering what’s different in the luxury features in this vehicle versus what you get in a Mazda or Kia? The acceleration is intoxicating but the brakes will make you need a quick change of pants. I was really looking forward to seeing you drive the Model X on some winding roads with that yoke. I’m disappointed that as long as all of these vehicles are they all struggle with providing ample legroom for the person in the second row to be able to really stretch their legs. My top 3 would be Audi, Aston & Porsche. The Bentley just missed the cut due to the rattling and noises coming from that legendary refined interior.

I agree. These faux leather/faux suede materials do not last. I have the vegan leather in my 2022 BMW X3 30e X-Drive M Sport...looked great when new...but it quickly aged and now has a slight patina. Nothing beats quality leather...in terms of looks, durability...and that new leather smell! This woke marketing crap is...crap.

I’m sorry my friend, i’m a single mature man, living in the land of Miami. I have not met a naughty woman that adores an electric vehicle nor fancies, the Lamborghini Urus. They prefer, if they have to the Bentley. They want some thing with panache. I tried ordering the Ferrari purosangre and only 48 were made available to the United States. Your beautiful review killed me lol what a car.

Great review, love all of these vehicles, however now I am more torn between what I will order next. Currently have the MB GLC63, love it, but need something larger. I LOVE The sound of the AMG's, however with the European regulations the newer AMG"s in USA now also have OPF and sound less aggressive. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo Hybrid is impressive, but a bit more money, and like you eluded to, not much difference in quality/value, as all of these SUVs are fairly similar. Honestly, I'm not overly worried about an extra 35K once we are at this price point, if the Porsche is that much better. The ride comfort seems superior with the Porsche compared to the AMG's. What are your thoughts Thomas!?

Main reaction, for all cars : over powered, over complicated, over priced. I can't grasp the need for ultra sportive SUV's with such firm suspension for public roads and daily use. Individual reaction, when put main reaction aside : * Urus : dislike the complexity of the center console, show off, Italian imperfections (rattling roof top) and temperament are inexcusable at this price range * Bentley : personal favourite but why would one have the desire to spec this with such sportive character? I would go for comfort and luxury all the way, class act. * Aston Martin : old generation infotainment system is inexcusable at this price range, noisier but slower, weird gearing selection feels unnatural, lovely exterior design though * Audi : German engineering at it's best, personal dislike the overly tech interior / exterior, best quality / price in this class though and still would consider it * Mercedes : looks like a hippo, drives like a train, I'd take a G class any time * Porsche : track performance is alien for a +2T SUV but unnecessary for road performance. Consider if you would take your family on a track day, indeed huge nono. Just go for a standard Cayenne with nice options and for track days get a Cayman GT4. I can't imagine I would take my family car for a track day. * BMW X5 : Again, like the Bentley, go for comfort and luxury, it's sporty enough as it is. * BMW X6 : Same comment as the Mercedes, just buy an X7 for class and luxury. * Tesla : personal dislike for the plastic looking gaming console wheel and mounted laptop in the centre. Also absolutely dangerous and unnecessary acceleration in Plaid mode in the wrong hands. I saw a brake failure test of this huge colossal hippo, the weight combined with the acceleration and speed is just beyond physical comprehension and logic for public roads. So, I guess I am all for the combination of classic design and top engineering for the sake of comfort, safety and luxury when looking at SUV's but in no way they should be this powerful. Just unnecessary.

So Aston Martin cost all that money and something as simple as rerouting the hood opener for left hand drive market was too much for them to do. It took more engineering to move the steering wheel over.

A common thought is ‘if I win the lotto, I’d have X, Y & Z cars,’ but now I think (as shown here) what’s the point of splashing out $250k when you can get something equally as good for 40% of that cost? Out of this lot it is a bargain basement (😂) Audi RSQ8 for me. That leaves me with the extra cash to spend on the important things like women & alcohol (I’d likely just squander the rest! 🤣🤣🤣).

Of course they are. The only difference is that Bentley puts a higher price tag. Technology wise, Bentley is Cayenne / Touareg / Q7 / Q8. They are all being built in the same plant, just that Bentley receives the vehicle then for the final "oh lets put 10 dead cows in it". People have to realize that when you buy luxury brands, you get the worse product for double the price than the premium product. Rolls-Royce is worse than BMW and Bentley is worse than Porsche/Audi. It's just logic because the premium manufacturers have better tech and development and shorter cycles whereas the luxury high end product can just rely on marketing gags and pricing. These luxury vehicles are more expensive because they are more expensive, not because they offer anything more/better.

By the time you get into this sector buying a car on rational Autogefuhl details goes out of the window. The head no longer rules. On that basis I have not the slightest doubt that I want the Aston Martin complete with all the drawbacks which Thomas highlights. If I allowed my head a look in it would of course have to be the Porsche. The wild card in this comparison was the Tesla, not just because it is an EV. Tesla has done everything so right that it is churlish to report I do not want one. Got right includes outright speed, efficiency, range, handling and suspension, complete rethink of what a car is, use of interior space, and simplification of the UI/UX. What cans any Tesla for me are three things. Stuffing an iPad or such like onto the front of the dashboard with epoxy resin glue just looks like something a child might have designed; I do children down because they might have done better. Having an always sunny sun roof just does not work even in the rainy UK where for parts of the year it will be intolerable. The final sad point is that with the best will in the world the Tesla does not look like more than €100k’s worth of car and somehow is not aspirational. The car which should have been considered amongst the other dreams here is perhaps the new Maserati Folgare which is not an SUV but does do performance. I may be in a minority of those who consider King Herod forward thinking and ahead of his time on matters of childcare, but a 2+2 GT is a perfect vaccination against the threat of children embarking with me on a long journey. In the awful event someone wants to put the little terrorists in the back their mother can clean up whatever emissions remain after the journey in the certain knowledge nobody is ever going to repeat the experience. A clear advantage of 2+2. Then there is the wonderfully restricted boot, small enough to discourage my other half from attempting to put bags of horse food into it. We are half way to heaven even before we get to the Maserati bit. The Maserati bit is what I hope Thomas or other members of the team will review in due course.
