Having just taken delivery of Amouage Opus XI, I completely agree with your comments, there's definite petroleum note in it. That sounds like it could be a complete disaster, but in practice, it really is superb. Another masterpiece from the house.

I watch so many of your videos and having just blindly bought amouage opus xi I am delighted to hear you love it aswell,I enjoyed gucci guilty absolute but even though they are similar opus is on another level I love it,the downside to that is although I have worn it for three days consecutively my good lady hasn't even passed comment I despair sometimes

I feel the same about the performance word! I wish it wasn’t mentioned so much because now perfumers are putting way more powerful synthetics in the perfumes but the actual scent suffers horribly

I feel that I’m getting more and more bored by Givaudan perfumers’ creations nowadays. Seems to me that nowadays they only know putting Akigalawood as base. Everything from them converges to the same thing in the end. Name one recent release by Givaudan perfumes that doesn’t have Akigalawood in the base? While I don’t hate Akigalawood and it is most definitely thousands of times better than those disgusting woody ambers enjoyed by Christine Nagel and the like, I still find it boring once you realise that all the perfumes smell like the same Akigalawood thing.

Now this is an older video, but I just want to say that I resently smelled Antaeus for the first time ever and I must say its the sexiest, most sophisticated mans fragrance I have smelled. I don't finde it dated at all (I am 28) I wish more man would wear this instead of the blue colognes

@@Persolaise So I just received Falkar. I would say this. . . . addictive. . . high inducing. . . niche version of ombre leather. a real "man's scent." The adult version of CH Man Prive or Dark Rebel. Refined. Leathery saffron that's cooking in the desert sun. And this is just in the first ten minutes. The more it dries, the more exquisite it gets. Just the right amount of musky oud underneath. Most women won't like to smell this up-close, but I think they will be addicted to the sillage, and you will smell like the only real cowboy in town.

I have a sample of Opus XI in front of me! To my nose, it is very, very reminiscent of Xerjoff's Zefiro, which I had sampled months earlier. I think I still have that sample kicking around, as a matter of fact - I should try and find it and do a side-by-side comparison. My scent of the evening is Nasomatto's Baraonda.

@@Persolaise I found it! My nose might not be at its best this morning, but yes, I recalled correctly. These have very similar scent profiles in my opinion, although less so now than I had at first thought. I've only been in this game for about 18 months, but I've noticed that my ability to discern subtle differences has dramatically increased as my collection has grown. Six to eight months ago, these smelled practically identical, but now I can distinguish between them pretty easily. That said, I would still make the claim that they open very, very similarly. I don't have any test strips close by, so I'm just testing them on skin. The Opus XI has a sharper opening - that 'fuel' accord that you spoke about really comes out clearly. Zefiro, on the other hand, comes a little duller by comparison. Opus XI cuts through, whereas Zefiro is softer, and for some reason conjurs up the image of plastic in my mind. After about 10 minutes on my skin, Opus XI is still retaining that edge to its opening - it still has a sharp 'attack' to it. Zefiro has toned down - its scent is more 'muffled' by comparison. Amusingly, when I last tried these perfumes, I wasn't really a fan of either - I found them both rather unpleasant. But after coming back to them several months later, they're actually quite lovely. I find that this is a common theme with the more challenging scents that I come back to. Another one which did this to me recently is Al-Khat. It may not be bottle-worthy (yet), but my impressions of it went from utter distaste to something I now find quite pleasant. Thank you for the excellent content. I wish I could be there for your live streams, but unfortunately, it seems that I'm usually fast asleep during those times. Cheers!

Fahrenheit is a classic masterpiece!! Sexy and seductive, yet charming and sophisticated, but oddly not very layered or elusive. After gifting it to a few semi crushes, I decided it smelled best on myself. Wonder what psychology sparked that particular awakening🤔! Also for some strange reason I always thought of Fahrenheit as the olfactory equivalent of Pet Shop Boys' music, go figure!

I adore the Gallivant brand, especially London and Istanbul but had to sell my bottle of LA as the tuberose note came off my skin very coconutty and my wife can't stand coconut, so I could never wear it
