Have you ever traveled with only a personal item? 🎒🗺
@lanceklein27462 жыл бұрын
Sort of? I traveled to Ireland on a combined personal/business trip. I stayed for a few days in Dublin with my roller carry-on and 16L backpack. Then I packed 2 days of work clothes and laptop into the 16L backpack for a 3 hour trip to Belfast by bus (highly recommended!), leaving my wife and daughter to protect the remainder of my stuff until I returned a few days later to resume the personal trip. Really, I had extra room and could have brought more with me but I reserved the leftover space for snacks 😋

Well, you gotta save room for snacks! Having that versatility is key-thanks for the comment, Lance 😁 I'm excited to hear more about your upcoming trip in Pro! - Austin

@Zebra Last I am looking for a 20L(ish, OK to go a bit smaller) for a personal item. Also looking for recommendations for a small packable pack. Thanks!

Normalize including prices in all your videos! It won't stop me from watching a review on something out of my price point but is an important factor to consider in your pros/cons.

I would recommend the North Face Flyweight instead of the Matador. It’s packable and has a front mesh net that comes in very handy. Old version sells online for about 30 bucks.

My go-to is the REI Flash 22. I've used it for travel (fit a weekends worth) and on day hikes. It comes in around 14 oz and is extremely versatile.

I was thinking of adding that myself but this channel rarely mentions anything from REI. My first Flash was the 18 L and then I graduated to the 22 L. At first I used them for day hikes but I have used them as personal items too! I love everything for the daisy chains to the cinch cord and symplicity.
@ckgonzales67432 жыл бұрын
@@IntriguedLioness - I just picked up the older version Flash 22. I prefer it to the new release so I was able to grab it at a discount. Paired with the Waymark shoulder pouch it's a great little set up!
@IntriguedLioness2 жыл бұрын
@@ckgonzales6743 I have used shoulder pouches too! I don't mind the added weight and as we do always have our phones at the ready... I have to laugh because I think most of my bags including REI bags have all been at a discount simply because when I shop I noticed there's an older version or there's a colour that didn't sell... And it is inevitably makes my item unique and sometimes older versions have details that the company made phase out for whatever reason....

I use it more as a Everyday carry style backpack (college) but the Falanko laptop backpack is a legit solid choice. Pretty durable, has a water resistant fabric, charging port option, two side pockets, huge antitheft pocket on the back, laptop sleeve, tablet/small notebook sleeve, and several smaller pockets on the inside. Its deceptively more spacious then it's 11 x 9.35 x 17 inch size suggests. I love to see a review on it at some point

I use my Osprey Ultralight Stuff Pack. Really affordable for 30€, small (like an apple) if folded down. For shopping, going to the beach or a day in the city is really useful - doubles as a dirty laundry bag. For its small weight it carries astonishingly comfortable - if you pack it right. Instead of a packing cube I use it inside my bigger backpack for clothes - with 16l it almost holds everything for 1 week. Has a little pocket at the top for keys, a small wallet... and a strechy side pocket that even fits a nalgene water bottle. For its small price it still looks as new after one year use - would recommend it

I know it is from one of the big standard-pack manufacturers, but you really should consider the Jansport Hatchet here. The bag is 18x12x8 (fits Spirit personal item measurements), seems sturdy and well-built, and has ample organization...

My go-to personal item is a version of the Sherpani Soleil convertible crossbody-backpack. It is a good size (14L), has outside water bottle pockets, a luggage handle passthrough, a few other outside pockets, a large documents pocket on the back, and a nicely organized interior. Also includes a little elastic for the outside zipper to tuck into to dissuade pickpockets. I really like the flexibility of having a bag I can use as a crossbody, tote, or a backpack as the situation needs. I have been using mine for years and it still looks nice and everything is working. And it fits quite nicely under the seat in front of you on the airplane.

After visiting countries with a lot of pickpocketing and thefts, I now only travel with pacsafe as my personal item. I switch between the Venturesafe GII 25L and the Vibe 25L. I've been wanting to upgrade to the Venturesafe G3 28L but I have not been able to find reviews on it as an underseat airline personal carry. Or any reviews on KZbin for it. It would be great if you could get ahold of one for review.

I agree, I started looking into pacsafe another brands incl REI when Kevlar became even more lightweight! As a female I look for it in purse straps (carried as a crossbody of course)... but I've now been very very close to 2 slash and grabs and the victim usually ends up pretty bloody. I tested one of my bags with a box-cutter and it doesn't even dig into the fabric so I feel safer!

I like the Patagonia Atom Sling at 8.5L. Fits a water bottle and has a soft pocket for an e-reader or a Nintendo Switch, plus a smaller pocket and some compression straps to hold a jacket/hoodie on the outside. Maybe a little small if you bring over-ear headphones, but I use earbuds. Also probably the best bag for Disney theme parks and very affordable with a bunch of color options.

My go-to is often the Patagonia Ultralight Black Hole tote. As a tote a bit of the weight does go towards the handles but I don't find it an inconvenience. Initially I used them as totes but discovered they were also good for a personal item carry on. Personally, unless I'm crossing oceans, I take train over dealing with airports and baggage restrictions so I don't worry about luggage size that much... But as a 1-bagger I like having variety in my arsenal! REI had a couple of very lightweight Kevlar carry-ons which I have both the sling and the backpack and I like the safety and rigidity but obviously it adds a bit of weight. Kevlar surprisingly is not that heavy nowadays! All under $100usd, so more $ for travels!

Ooo these are all cool. I’ll keep my eye on the topo design mini rover. I prefer a zip top but that might be an exception. I’ve been looking at the United by Blue 9L Sidekick for a while. Right now I have a TNF Top loader daypack 16l which is simple and perfect with light back padding and comfortable straps. One of those TNF products that came and went pretty quickly though so you’d have to buy it if someone has stock still.
