Why hasn't the 'width of the screen' factor not considered? When I sit in between 5th and 10th rows, there are more chances that our eyes won't be able to cover the whole width, we need to move our eyeballs often to focus on different parts of the screen. I've always found to be best experience if I book the seat exactly in the middle, so that I can get excellent visual and audio experience.

The best way to identify can only be done by constant grasping of extreme lows of bass and surround with respect to each theatres..

Guys you can differentiate the "theta" with respect to "d" to get the maxima and solve that equation to get the distance. The method you suggested is also right but mathematically you would get an exact answer by differentiating.
