I live in Aspinwall and I couldn't agree more, it's by far the best place in Pittsburgh, It's got a home town community feel and a safe place to live. It's not cheap, but their is a reason for that, and once you move in, you never feel like moving out. I've seen people buy multiple homes because of growing families, all within Aspinwall.

The one complaint that some of my out of town clients give me is the lack of off street and garage parking in Aspinwall. But seems like the roads are wide enough and most people don't seem to mind. What is your take on parking in Aspinwall?
@tigergreg82 жыл бұрын
@@markknowspittsburgh Well Mark, when you put it that way, yes, that is most def a deterrent in this area. It really depends on which Street you live on in Aspinwall, as far as parking spaces are concerned. In the area I'm at, I'll be quite honest, it sucks. Now, if you go on Western Avenue. I see more spaces then here off 5th Street. The problem is, the streets are mostly one way. and parking is only on once side, because the Streets really aren't very wide, not where I'm at. If that's there grievance, then they are truly justified in wanting to go elsewhere, but, if you can get over that somehow, it's the nicest place in Pittsburgh.

They are all very nice communities. I agree with you on Dormont being #1 on your list. Easy access to downtown. Great shopping neighborhood. Homes reasonably priced.

And since I recorded this even more new businesses have come into Dormont. The latest is a burger joint - Moonlit Burgers. It will bring people from all over to come to Dormont.

Could you please provide the avg house rent near pittsburg.......I want a house within 600-800$,could you please list down the area where I can find the same.Thanking you in advance.

If you are looking for a single family detached home - the average rent is probably $1500 per month. If you are looking to pay $600-$800, there are some places where you can find a 1 bedroom apartment for that amount. I would suggest checking out Zillow or Zumper. My expertise is with home buyers, and do not work with rentals very often.

Who wants to live in Wilkinsburg? Lots of crime there!
@markknowspittsburgh3 жыл бұрын
I know lots of people that live in Wilkinsburg and lots of people that would like to live there. I am curious about your statement about lots of crime. Does it come from your own personal experience? Does it come from statistics? Or does it come from your perception? Do you know in 2018 how many drug crimes were committed in Wilkinsburg? There were 110. Do you know how many there were in Bethel Park? There were 263. (These stats are from the FBI) Do you know how many alcohol crimes were commited in Wilkinsburg in the same year? There were 44. Do you know how many were in Bethel Park? There were 199. And as far as safety, do you know how many car crashes there were in 2018 in Wilkinsburg? There were 20. In Bethel Park there were 184.. (Pine township had 150, and Richland township had 126).

@@markknowspittsburgh apples and oranges. What's the population of Wilkinsburg to Bethel. What's the per capita crime? Wilkinsburg is a shithole, crime ridden and low property values
@markknowspittsburgh3 жыл бұрын
Yes, more people live in Bethel than in Wilkinsburg. But crime is crime. People often base their views of a neighborhood based on perception, biases, stereotypes, and racism - so it is important to present facts.

First off, these places are not within Pittsburgh. They are the suburbs right outside Pgh. One big negative of living inside Pgh is the 3% wage tax which is 3 times higher than most areas outside the city limits. The Pgh school district is another big negative. Terrible education - I went there. Had to take pre college courses to catch up. Learned almost everything in college. Roads and traffic are awful. Fort Pitt and Squirrel Hill tunnels are terrible bottle necks and you have a hard time avoiding them as they are on the major roads. There are very nice communities in the suburbs but you will have a hard time navigating through the city.

The title page of the video says "Suburbs of Pittsburgh"! I imagine there were some benefits of attending city schools. Perhaps you had experiences that your suburban friends didn't have. Also - some of them needed to take pre college course to catch up too :)

I graduated with highest honors from Bethel Park HS , was a National Merit Scholar and won a full academic scholarship to my prestigious college of choice ( Allegheny College), then returned to teach at BPHS because I knew what a great academic school it was ( Mark, I had offers from other top quality suburban schools including Mt Lebo but my choice was Bethel Zpark because I knew some of the administration and much of the staff. I chose to pursue my Master’s at my dream university, the U. Of Hawaii where I shared an apartment on Waikiki! I will never regret being educated at 3 top quality schools or choosing to work where I did! I left education to enter the tourism field, being a well- known tour operator and owning a travel agency. I’ve benefitted from my tourism credentials, having traveled to 113 countries on 6 continents during my 25 years during “ the golden age” of travel- long enough to see many of the more exotic locations I ‘be loved become over run with too many tourists and rampant commercialism to the point where it breaks my heart.
