HI Friends! Here's a look at a recent trip my husband and I took through the English countryside, including some of the more popular city attractions. I hope you are having a lovely summer, where you call home! xoxo, Cassandra :)

Thank you and your husband for your service. As both a former service member (US Army) and spouse to a US Airman, I can appreciate the separation of lives that happens. Love your channel and look forward to following you on you adventures both at home and when you are able to be with you spouse. Blessings on you both.

Retired first class petty officer here... Spent two different periods in England (back in 72 - 76 when dad was in the Air Force and we were stationed there and then again in 2003 for 6 months when I was stationed at the same bases 30 years later). There is something magical about the country that we just don't have here in the states and I miss it quite a bit though all of the bases where I was stationed have since been returned to the civilian population and have been rebuilt (except for my elementary school where I was in first grade, I believe, in 1972 and where I lived only a few blocks away in 2003!) Dad was an English history fanatic and had his degree in English Lit / English History so we were well travelled in the 3 years we lived there though I was too young to really understand. I remember a lot of the travelling but not the significance. I tried to make up for it when I was stationed there and have a couple of friends, one in London and a Scotsman and his American wife who live a few miles from Edinburgh who have both offered me a couch when I get the chance to come back over and visit. But the gardens... You just can't say enough about the gardens and the pride they take in creating and maintaining them. A nice video that sparked quite a few memories!

I'm so happy you were able to spend time together. I grew up a military dependant, and the separation time was a struggle. That being said, there are so many amazing opportunities I had that others will never know except through others' travels. I miss all the historical architecture of Europe. Thank you for your husband's service, and you serving along side him. Have a blessed week...now time to make carrot cake jam.

Thank you for your service! He was stationed at Molesworth (the AFB you are likely referring to). My husband and I said the same thing. There is just a slower pace, appreciation for the landscape (free of advertising billboards everywhere), quality food and preservation of historical landmarks, buildings, etc. that are few are far here in the states (because we tear things down and replace it with something 'newever/cheaper). While the downside is that this trip came at the cost of us being parted for a few months, the perk was that we got to do some amazing traveling. PS-I"ll saw your email; I'll get back to you soon!

Well it was so nice to finally meet your husband so to speak. I’ve just been watching your videos as they pop up on my page on my little tablet. But to be able to spend two weeks in the UK would be marvelous I would love to go there someday. But you ought to KZbin the clotted cream and see if it can be canned. It’s a little bit of a process to make but not difficult. And I know it must be hard spending so much time from him.And thank you so much for the tour I truly enjoyed it.

I didn't know that you were a milwife. I spent 23 years married (still am) to my husband through his career in the army but mostly Marine Corps. It is a special situation that you really don't understand unless you're in it. One thing I had a love/hate relationship with was moving to new places. We didn't have money for visits like this but it would have been awesome.
@Lynn-kh5rs2 жыл бұрын
So true that others don't understand military life. It is a different way of life. (DH 23 yrs. USAF).
@BecomingaFarmGirl2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! Honey we are cut from the same cloth! We've got 3 more years to go before retirement and honey I can't wait! I hear you on the love/hate relationship. While yes, this trip was 'great'--it came on the heels of months of separation. We've been lucky enough not to have experienced much time apart like the Army/Marine Corps. We both came from military families so we had that advantage, but nothing really prepares you for the wild ride that is military service. Thank you BOTH for your service.
@lisapop52192 жыл бұрын
@@Lynn-kh5rs totally agree. Few people are exposed to it and even fewer have lived it successfully. I define that as surviving with your family intact & you still like each other. I've always had a lot of admiration for navy spouses because of how often they are separated. Don't get me started on the 18 month army rotation lol. You really have to be dedicated to your marriage to make a whole career. It definitely is a lifestyle choice over which you have zero control over basic things like where you live. It took me a looong time to adjust & made my husband miserable complaining about things that we had no control over.
@lisapop52192 жыл бұрын
@@BecomingaFarmGirl you definitely had an advantage of growing up in the life because you knew part of what it would be like. So true that you really don't know until you're in it. Very glad that you haven't had to many separations. I just have to say one thing, be prepared for the possibility of a hard transition for both of you when he retires. Some people have zero problems. Others have big ones, especially if they feel like they would have continued but they had to retire for whatever reason. Idk how much you were immersed in the mil life, but it can be hard for us as well to being a civilian again. I know that we are always civilians. The thing I'm talking about is the real world where you don't almost automatically have a friend group because you are in this club or you live in housing etc. You automatically have something in common. Definitely an adjustment when you settle down and try to talk to your neighbors. I wasn't ever a gung ho join everything type & I had a hard time just randomly starting conversations. I had just spent so much time around milfolk that it was a bit difficult.

I didn't know Highclere was that far south. I thought it was nearly in Yorkshire. My fault, bc in the show Downton Abbey is indeed, in Yorkshire, ha I'm so happy you enjoyed your time there. And yes, train travel is most awesome. Hope you get the chance to go up north some time, maybe even to beloved Scotland xo. Take care and so happy for you Edit: I wrote early, but hit your thumbs up when you did get to Scotland. I love Scotland! 💖
@BecomingaFarmGirl2 жыл бұрын
Angela you are exactly right about the village scenes of the show being filmed in Yorkshire, but the location of the castle is actually in Bampton (which through me for a loop when we purchase tickets a few months before because I anticipated walking from the castle to "town'-lol). The train allowed us to pack in so much travel, and my, its nearly gorgeous just everywhere you look! And yes, the next visit to the UK will include many more days in Scotland, we LOVED it there!!

What a lovely trip; you got to see your honey (and buy some honey, lol)...you're an adorable couple! If I went to the UK, I'd probably steal your itinerary, although I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be released from the London Tower based solely on the absolutely criminal amount of clotted cream I would consume at Orangery tea time! Another great video... thanks for sharing your trip with all of us.
@BecomingaFarmGirl2 жыл бұрын
Hello Pearl! Haha about the honey, yes ma'am I got 'em both! The Orangery was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I just love a good period British drama and so being there in real life felt unreal! The historical buildings and landmarks are so densely packed in the UK (plus they have so many laws about preserving the natural landscape) that we just don't have/do here in the states. It was lovely time of traveling. Thanks for watching and for your kind words!

@@BecomingaFarmGirl Well, you clearly have the voice to be a Professional Narrator. Yours is as good a voice as almost any I have heard in the employement that way. It may seen quite unrelated but about 20 years or so ago I heard an American chap speaking about a campaign in order to have the privilege of taking to the seat in the Oval Office. I didn`t see his face, only heard his voice. Upon hearing it I said to my fellows at work : That bloke is going to be the next President of the United States of America. It was George Bush Jr`s voice that I heard. I`m not taking an opinion as to whether he was a good President. You must come along over here again, and take a tour of mainland Europe. I love living here whilst it broke my heart when us Britons voted to leave the European Union. I`ve been to the second and third cities of Christendom, the second being Rome and the third Santiago de Compostella. It`s beyond my purse and wits - at this moment - to go to the first Jerusalem.
