We definitely witnessed our fair share of people discarding litter...it was especially frustrating when we saw it happening out at beautiful nature spots :( thanks for pointing this out as it is a factor when visiting Albania. Fingers crossed this changes as like you said the country is amazing! :)

Berat castle is one of few castles that people still live there. You missed the Onufri museum and the churches. Berat has some of the most beautiful frescos when it comes to churches. And if you stopped to the ethnography museum you would be surprised by the house that is preserved how it was before with traditional costumes and everything in it. Just a suggestion when you go to a place just google what it has to offer because just walking around is not enough.

Thanks for the suggestions. It also depends on your interests of course 👍

Why is that all the tourist make the same mistake calling Albanian cities ottoman etc?? Stay off Wikipedia guys. People post crap there too!!! Berat, Gjitokaster, Lezhe, Durres, Shkoder and many more Albanians cities predate any ottomans or Arabs by millennia. These are Illyrian cities and settlements. Ottomans were in business of occupying, looting, enslaving and converting and not in the business of building cities. They tried to destroy these settlements over and over and again and again but Albanians rebuilt them. What ottoman or Arab city looks like Berat or Kruja or Lezhe or Durres or Shkoder or Gjirokaster or any other??? Ottomans occupied but never built any city on the contrary they tried to destroy anything they could. Sooo no. These cities are Albanian cities build of stone and nothing to do with ottomans. When ottomans came to Albanian these cities were already built and populated continuously before any ottoman ever existed. Why don’t you first inquire how old these settlements are first before you make any comments. Ottomans did not build Constantinople, they found it built already so you call that an ottoman city? Guys, enjoy your stay and stay off history because you are not learning 6000 years of history of that region by reading from Wikipedia. Have fun!

Thanks for your passionate comment 👍 we do research a little bit deeper than just Wikipedia but you’re right, it’s impossible to learn that much history and be completely accurate without extensive research. Apologies for any mistakes we may have made 🙏 we really love Albania 🇦🇱 it’s a beautiful country 😍
