Also slightly off topic... Went swimming in Lydford Gorge (only afterwards saw it was prohibited) and randomly on my KZbin got recommended about brain eating amoebas... Shits kinda scary and kinda put me off swimming in rivers and lakes now 😅 I know it's a really rare chance but do you know anything about it?

So one of the best ways to see if a place is safe, and what I did, is to join Facebook wild swimming groups to find out where is popular and also find some other hidden gems. I'd recommend doing the popular ones first to get your confidence up. Hope this helps!

I personally don't know anything about that, it does sound scary! I agree with "Not Another Adventure" the best way to wild swim with confidence is with Facebook groups or I also find that online blogs can be a good place to find safe swims.
