My resources are literally what I see around specially in public areas. We have moved to several cities throughout the years, and I always planted what I see growing successfully in public parks, commercial centers, avenues etc. If it works there, it surely will work on my garden. I love lizards! 1:03 ♥

I often reference the Native Plant Society of Texas website as they have lists for each ecoregion in Texas.

I picked up a pineapple guava that I didn’t make a video on from Calloway’s Nursery. I don’t know if one of their locations is near you but if so, scoop one up. Mine is young and suffered a little during the winter but it’s bouncing back strong now. Thanks for sharing and stay blessed fam! -Calvin

Calvin! I don’t think we have one nearby but I’ll keep searching and I appreciate the tip. Thanks for stopping by and supporting a fellow gardener 🙌

I really like what you’re doing on your yard. I like pineapple guava but I was afraid it would get damage on winter, so I planted evergreen sumac, ended up loving it and planted 3 more 😀. Thanks for sharing your garden and also for the information provided.

I appreciate you sharing that experience. I’ll look into the sumac. Is there one that stays under 20ft?

@@theplantninja-texasgardener Yes, mine are about 8-10ft, I bought them on a 4” pot at a native plant society sale, they grow fast.

I’m getting ready to dig up some grass to start native plants. Do you think my neighbors grass will creep over? Should I create a barrier? Thank you for the resources very helpful!

It’s tricky, if your neighbors grass is Bermuda it’ll be hard to control even with a barrier because it spreads primarily by underground rhizomes. St. Augustine is a bit easier because it spreads via stolons above ground. I think you should do a barrier if you like the look, but you don’t have to. I personally love an invisible border with no barrier, but I also love a cut limestone border. Best wishes on your native perennial bed!
