Before jumping to any conclusion, I'd want to do a bit more research and comparison from sources like CSReport, Car Buyers Guide, the CAA, the AAA and other non-partisan survey organizations and actually got kick the tires. But, push comes to shove, and in the absence of any other data my pick would be the RAV4.

Hi, I must disagree with most of your ranking, although the 4th and 5th I do agree.But I think putting the CX90 first is not viable simply because of price and range.The Mitsubishi is a great véhicule,unfortunately it’s gas consomption is quite high but has a really great interior. The R4P in my humble opinion is the clear winner, electric range, hybrid range, reliability, acceleration,fuel economy and resale value. To be fair doesn’t have the best interior (2021 in video) no third seating but the only real third seating in the group is Mazda and Finally the R4P is aging (I believe well) compared to rest of the group.

Toytota RAV4 PHEV. Problem free PHEV and 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds. 45 miles EV range without even trying. Scotty Kilmer rates it the RAV4 Prime as the #1 vehicle to buy in 2024, but I would wait for the 2025 RAV4 Prime which will have a serious make-over with 60 miles EV range.

The CX-90 has, by far, the worst all-electric range of 25 miles. If you want to save substantially on fuel, you had better have a short commute. Otherwise, choose one of the others on the list.

I read a comment from a reviewer that turned me off to plug-in hybrids. If you're in all electric mode and you need immediate power, you can't have it. The motor has to start and come up to speed before you get that burst of horses.
@vincehicks3305 Жыл бұрын
Ehh that depends wildly on the system. I find the system of my Volvo S60 PHEV works great. I always have immediate power available (EV only power is plenty 90% of the time). Motor comes on very smoothly and immediately in the rare times it's truly needed. Of course the Volvo system may be very different than the Mitsubishi system, Toyota system etc. You need to look into the particular cars and not use a blanket statement for all PHEVs.
@kipbollinger1795 Жыл бұрын
Same as Volvo with our Tucson: it starts quickly and is pulling fast. No turbo lag, and with a simple 6 speed there is no slushy feel as some CVTs.
@vincentpauly78507 ай бұрын
Driving a 2024 Ford Escape PHEV, I'm not sure why anyone would use EV only, or as Ford calls it EV Now. Using the Auto EV mode will only use EV power unless suddenly more is needed. Now, I do use what Ford calls EV later mode when I'm travelling on a highway a distance that far exceeds my battery range. I will reserve the battery power for when I resume city driving speeds. But I would not worry about that reviewer's critique. There are ICE cars that lack the power many of these PHEVs offer and yet people still buy and drive them. In some cases, they might suffer but one simply cannot have everything. If one needs that kind of power at all times, expect to pay a lot for it and a lot for the fuel. Or buy a full EV.

The Mitsubishi Outlander DOES NOT HAVE A CVT. It has a SINGLE SPEED transmission, like top gear in any manual or auto gearbox, that can provide additional power and torque to the front wheels. Please do not make false statements in your videos.

I had the 2018 outlander for three yrs and although the EV experience was great, the hybrid engine was bad. I mean it never felt fuel efficient like Toyota’s hybrid engine. in my opinion RAV4 is top simply for the high EV miles and hybrid engine. I know the design and interior is not top quality but the EV range and hybrid engine makes up for it. Plus the best reselling value too.

Best resale value is Toyota RAV4 Prime. Longest range for EV.
@bankperson1366 Жыл бұрын
@@hifibest Even I get 80 to 100KM range on EV .. so not sure why people selectively call out only Toyota can give longest ev range. Remember Outlander weighs above Rav4 and better super all wheel drive system you drive in heavy snow along quite quality cabin. Ofcourse agreed hybrid system of Toyota is unbeatable since weight to body ratio plays a role.

@@jimzeoThey completely redesigned it in 2023. Nowhere near the same vehicle. The newer model has a 2.4L gas motor instead of the 2.0L. The lithium battery is much bigger. The new one has advanced regenerative braking so every time you take your foot off the gas, it charges the battery. Also, the new model has dual electric motors, one on each axle. I don't know that any of the others have that. It also has adaptive cruise control, which flows the vehicle when the vehicle in front slows or brakes and also keeps the vehicle in its lane. I freaked out my family by letting go of the wheel around a bend on the highway and the vehicle steered itself. This vehicle is so advanced, it amazing.

the interior of the prime is terrible if you're over 6ft tall and jittery as all hell on the highway.. (wife has one) I love how quick it is and how it handles off the highway.. though in an accident i'd be killed, i sit entirely too close to the windshield because of the rake of the windshield..

I am almost 6 foot 3 and I fit this car perfectly. I drive it on the highway a lot and it’s smooth and steady (And fast!). Maybe yours needs to go in for a check up?
@rustbeltrobclassic2512 Жыл бұрын
@@edholtgi It's all about your build.. i don't care for high belt line vehicles, they make me feel claustrophobic.. so i sit higher, but the power seats scissor forward the higher you go, so if you have longer legs and a shorter torso, you end up sitting with your face way too close to the A pillar.. obviously, it wouldn't happen to everyone as it depends where you sit.. but for my build, it's uncomfortably close to the windshield.. like i said, my wife has one.. I ended up driving one of these Mitsubishi's, but they are just too expensive for the unproven questionable longevity, i really liked it, but with no incentives and the 50k price tag, i ended up just buying a used GX460.. with what i saved i can probably put gas in it till the day i die.. but, i do really like the plugin concept.. edit.. as for the ride, i am really used to big cruisers or luxury suv's.. the steering is a little too "sporty" for the highway, the speed limit by me is 75 and most traffic is cruising at 85, and the rav blows around a little too much for me on the highway.. at 75 it's fine, so on long trips on turnpikes where generally the speed-limit is 55 or 65 it's totally fine, but at 85 with heavy rutted roads from truck traffic, it just isn't a pleasant long distance cruiser.. and again, because of my build with long legs, the bottom cushion is too short and my legs go numb after a while, where in my Lincoln town-car that didn't happen, or my Fleetwood Cadillac before it.. I haven't taken my GX on a long ride yet, but the bottom cushion is about 4in longer, which makes a big difference.
