I got a 10,000 BTU Toshiba portable A/C at Home Depot for about $300. Used it a LOT in July and August and it was great. Just remember to make sure the hot air exhaust hose and associated window panel (with hole to attach hot air exhaust hose) are tightly insulated with foam strips so any hot air is not sucked back inside. And put a towel over the actual hot air exhaust hose else heat from the hose will radiate back into the environment and it will have to work harder to cool. Insulation is EVERYTHING with any portable A/C unit that requires you to blow the hot air thru a window or door.

My Kenmore unit works very well but the two tiny prongs that hold the hose onto the back of the unit have broken. No one mentions in reviews how the connection of the hose is set up. I am annoyed that my Kenmore relies upon the integrity of two flimsy, weak plastic prongs because without being able to have the hose stay connected the room fills with the discarded hot air. Can you tell me about how the hoses connect on these units? I appreciate your good information, your reviews, and your considered opinion. Many thanks! (& any suggestions as to how i can fix a round hose onto a slippery plastic surface are welcome. I have tried tape because I am loathe to screw brackets onto the unit as I might screw into something I shouldn’t disturb. Tape won’t last for more than a few hours.)

LG have a lot of good product's , AC units are not among those , Three people that I know and myself purchased LG's for our boat's , bad move mine lasted 1 summer . Other's had similar experience . Check consumer report before you buy . Just saying . I purchased a Frigidair another boater has a Honeywell mine is 4 years old work's great . The Honeywell one is new but seems to put out a lot of cool air for its smaller compact size . But. When the air temp is 90 to 103 and water temp is 91 takes a lot to cool thing's down . Oh yeah , forgot. To say what the problem was with the LG the bearings were shot in 3 to 4 mo. Of purchase .

They will cool but if you don't wrap the vent pipe with duct Work insulation it's like running a space heater with the a.c. on. Don't believe me put your hands around the hot air exhaust tube mid way, lot of heat.

Dual hose is really the only way to go with a portable AC unless it has an economy mode which is a feature I have yet to see on a portable AC. The reason that a single hose design sucks is just that. As it blows the hot air out the hose, it creates suction inside the house that ultimately draws hot outside air into the house. This would be a reasonable trade off if it only did so while it's actively cooling, but without an economy mode, it actively WARMS your house while the compressor isn't running because it is sucking hot air into the house. Not good.

The first AC mentioned in this video: Whynter-Arc-122DS is the only one I've seen. I bought a single hose type that I assumed would stop blowing air out of the hose once the room reached temperature, but was disgusted to see that it keeps pumping out cooled interior air even when the compressor shuts off. I was about to return it until I learned they pretty much all work that way so instead, I made a foam board duct around the hot side intake so it draws air from outside instead of inside. That makes it have to sit right in front of the window, but that's ok as long as I can easily wheel it away from the window when needed.which I still can.

Case Dorsett I think you just raise the window and put on an insert for the hose. Another plus is that you can have it in the bedroom then close off the rest of the rv for heat or air. Why have 2 rooftop units running? I’m thinking 2 fantastic fans and 2 portable roll around units
