Love the system. All the inter connectivity is great! Been trying to do this but camelbak has changed their fittings multiple times and they’re not compatible. Sawyer has its own proprietary bs fittings but not compatible with camelbak. It’s not just the QD’s it’s the thread patterns as well that make everything so difficult. Nice Job. Love your vids!

Interesting stuff, my water containers all use a normal bottle size screw cap. That includes my dirty water bag so I don't need any adapters. It is quite the cool system with those adapters though! Wouldn't the adapters become contaminated in the prozess though hence using them on clean bottles later on might be hazardous?

You can also set up a hyrdapak bladder to a source brand tube and quickly refill a bladder on your back without having to take it off. Not your current use case but it works quite well. The only issue that I've run into is occasionally I'll get some air in the system but its possible to avoid.

I use a very similar set up. Gotten made fun of during Field problems for having it with me. The only things I have different is I use a old school millbank bag in place of your drysak esq dirty bag and different filter besides Sawyer. I’ve had terrible luck with the made on a Monday Sawyer filters. Glad other people have better luck with them than me.

Personally, I don't really like them for my intended use. They are heavy "15oz", require manual Active use to make them work. Where the syawer or beefree can be left alone while they produce clean water for you. And they are not good for filtering for multiple people. Maybe if I was alone and wasn't co concerned about wight too much it would be worth it.

I haven't used them. The main reason I don't use them is the weight. 1.1L MODL weighs 13oz, whereas a 2L hydropak weighs 2.7oz. I could carry 10L worth of hydropaks for the same weight as one 1L MODL but that just my personal preference.

Thanks for the review and ideas. Wasn't aware that Hydrapak had such options available. Been trying to decide whether to go with Hydrapak or a MSR Dromedary for an extra water carrier. In the Southwest where water can be a premium, always want a spare carrier that collapses when not needed. I don't normally use gravity feed and dislike how the Sawyer and similar products work, preferring a pump style filter. But I have been working on a general purpose Get Home Bag and think a Gravity Feed might be a good addition especially considering the amount of water one might need to filter if I were to break down while off-road in the middle of the desert. Add in a military bladder system like Source of some of the new CamelBack's that have the quick-connect systems and you can put together a nice system for handling water.

I prefer to use water purification tablets. Filters' fibres may freeze very easily. If they freeze, filter basically does not work at all

That's why I carry both. But as long as you keep the filter close to your body in the winter time you will have no issues.

Have you ever had yours freeze yet? Mine says you're not supposed to use it after it freezes but you would think that the hollow fibers would be fine after freezing as opposed to a ceramic filter that would trap all that water inside the ceramic and expand.

No I've never had one freeze. If it's cold enough I will keep the filter in an internal pocket of my jacket close to my body to prevent freezing. Overnight It goes in my sleeping bag with me.

Why did you choose Sawyer versus Grayl or other purification method? I love and admire the good works Sawyer does around the world and I am drawn to how lightweight the system is and the backflush ability but it lacks the ability to clean viruses which drives me towards Grayl. Any thoughts?

At the time I made this, I didn't own a Grayl but realistically the grayl is a solution for a single person. The Sawyer mini or squeeze is rated to 100,000 gal while the Grayl is 60gal. That's why a like the Sawyer it can be a single person solution or a team one. The kit weighs less than 2 lbs... I think you mean sling load.... not "call of duty" Air Drop. Even if it was 25lbs that would still be realistically pretty light. normally, the military runs 20 Liter cans of water, and they weight 45lbs lol I'm going to assume you've never operationally rucked water with a team if you're complaining about 25lbs....

What was your experience with Duckworth shipping you order?? Mine has been ridiculously slow. My first oder back in January took a week for them to ship. I chalked it up to being slow after Christmas. My latest order, according to Duckworth email was to arrive on 3/1/23. One week after I ordered it. Currently it still has not shipped and Duckworth Customer Service has not responded to my email. I'd cancel the oder but I was given a gift certificate to Duckworth. Have you had any issues with the hydrapack quick adapter on the gravity bag leaking? First time using mine this weekend and noticed it dripping

If you don't tighten it down well, it will do that. Another friend of mine had a similar issue. His solution was putting a rubber O ring in the cap but Personally, I don't have that issue.

I spent all my money on night vision, gear and guns so I can only afford peasant water. But the Blue Smart water bottle label stands out more. Life water uses the black caps that are less noticeable.
