Sorry guys I originally had a section in the title “leaving FujiFilm” but I rewatched the video at the end and I didn’t really talk about it, so it was pretty click bait 😂 Kinda was in a rush for the upload, so yeah my bad! But I will make a video about this topic as I’m thinking about picking up the Nikon ZF for fun in the future, could be a fun camera! Anyway sorry again, hope you enjoyed the video anyway

Ill be honest with you guys and share my personal experience about my photography journey. Ive used almost most of cameras from Fujifilm to canon, Sony, Nikon, medium formats and film cameras too and its never ending. Its never ending my friends. Some who can afford will definitely have huge range to go for and some don't. So please don't keep on changing ur mind and just stick to upgrading ur skills instead cuz this hunt for best camera and lens thing is never ending and ull end up becoming a camera collector rather than a photographer. No camera is perfect and remember u all had one inspirational photographer who never used best autofocus camera or sharp lens and also a digital screen to view the photos.

9:20 Ouch. Did you ever tried the Sigma 85mm 1.4 Art? One of the sharpest lenses out there.

i leave fujifilm for Canon, but back at fuji again. i just love the colors and smallers body and lense sizes. i can live with the autofocus issues. i can still take good photos with it.

Fair enough! I would switch back from canon too 😅

I am a Sony user and i have to admit Fuji color is the best for Portraits. It's very tempting to switch to fuji but I am kind of scared to use it for pay job, it is not reliable enough for me

Do you like the old 18-55mm lens more than the new 16-50mm (I love your work especially those shot with the 18-55, but it’s discontinued and they came up with the new 16-50mm)

You mentioned ecom-shootings: What lens would you typically use for fashion work in the studio? Would you use your Fujifilm for this? Personally long-time Fujifilm user but got some product shootings coming up for our activewear brand and thinking of selling my Fujifilm gear to switch to Sony. As you mentioned: Never really getting very sharp images out of my X-T4 and I just feel like I don't wanna risk it for something this important. Flirting with the idea of an a7iv + the 24-70mm Sigma lens.
@gerardneedham2 ай бұрын
Yeah ecom 50mm for sure at f5.6 I don’t shoot ecom but I’ve assisted and got to learn the process, school portraits are very similar process For gear dude it really doesn’t matter, most of the photographers I assisted use a old 5d or even a 60d If you use Fuji you’ll need to turn off the film simulations are really dial in a good white balance, and the XT5 you can shoot tethered so that’s also important for the client to see the work and ship directly from Lightroom
@studionidra2 ай бұрын
@@gerardneedham Appreciate the answer mate! And definitely I'm with you, never felt like gear was what made my photography. Thanks for the ecom tech tip as well! I'll see, I might do the first couple of shootings with my X-T4 and the 35mm. You're right that it does get sharper if you don't shoot wide open. However, honestly, my Fuji shots just never seem as crisp and detailed as when I borrow my friends A7iv or even SL1. EDIT: come to think of it - I think the 18-55 kit zoom I have might even be sharper than the 35F1.4.

Check my video “the XT5 is all in need in 2024” about half way in I explain the white balance trick! But if you just set it to what’s shown in the video that’s all I do

Fuji has 4 lenses around the equivalent “nifty 50” focal length. XF35mm F1.4, XF33mm F1.4, XF35mm F2, and the cheaper XC35mmF2
@gerardneedham2 ай бұрын
Yeah your on the money, I only showed the cheapest one for the question! The 33mm f1.4 is so expensive right

Hey Gerard. So i have just bought an xt-5 and im kinda unsatisfied with it. the photos im getting out of them is not sharp at all. i have the kit lens and only shoot JPGs and I dont know if I am doing something worng but the there is no sharpness at all. and also very noisy at just 500 ISO. any insite on this because I want to use this as my main photo camera but the photos are so soft and noisy that I ed up using my a7siii in most case for photos.
@lolmanthe1st2 ай бұрын
get some prime lens will definitely change the game for fujifilm series - 23mm f1.4 and 56 mm f1.2 are the best lens to go for fujifilm and will cover ur required genre. Also since its not a full frame camera it definitely lacks in low light situation and lowering ur iso doesnt mean less noise. Noise can occur from several factors like ur arpeture and shutter speed too. Since ur kitlens has lowest arp of 2.8 which definitely hinders the light to pass through ur sensor. Try prime lenses with lowerst arptures for low light situations but from my personal experience xt5 is a pretty awesome camera even though its a crop sensor camera

I’ve had Fuji and Sony, and yes the colors are amazing on Fuji, but the fact that my 2017 Sony A7R3 has better AF than any current Fuji model is a disgrace.

They have one, 35mm f1.4 that just came out that I might actually be doing a video on! It’s expensive rattles and has crazy profile corrections So no 16mm f1.8, 24mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4, or 85mm f1.4 Only the 50mm f1.2 and the 85mm f1.2

I’d love a video going over your video settings, what kind of log you shoot in, and your color grading for your videos!
@gerardneedham2 ай бұрын
Yeah I just shoot in slog 3 and put my luts on top and that’s about it! Sometimes I’ll tweed the colour wheels for my white balance but it’s pretty good in auto and just lock the auto white balance For the aroll I just set the white balance slightly cooler than my light, so my camera is set to 4000k and my light is on 4300k or so, makes the skin tone warmer
