Bro I just started jujitsu last week and this has been an adjustment I hadn't thought about. I'm way out of shape so I tend to get gassy if i'm not careful what I eat. The My first class I felt like i was going to thow up so the next session I had an early lunch and didn't eat anything before class. I felt like hell. No energy, gassed out quick, got the shakes and light headed. It was miserable. This past class I at a little bit later lunch and then before class I ate one of those KIND protein bars. Made a WORLD of difference in class.

Man, diet is everything! As I edge closer to 40 and getting into Jiu-jitsu for almost a year now, when I eat like crap within 24 hours before class, I don't do near as well. I get tapped out by people that I would normally have zero problem with and I get rag dolled by guys who I'd be on an equal footing with.

Found a good dump of carbs (prefer noodles) roughly an hour before training works for me with maybe a protein shake but usually a bar with about 20grams or so instead of the full 32 grams. Night and day difference in not only energy but my stamina was also effected positively

My classes are in the evening. I try not to have a big lunch after noon. I'll usually do a small meal at 11 and again at 1. About an hour before class time, I'll have a small carb-heavy snack, like a half bowl of cereal, a pack of peanut butter crackers, a peanut butter and honey sandwich, or a cookie; something that will fuel me through class. I'll eat dinner after class, and I'm a night owl so that works for me. I don't know if this is necessarily the healthiest way of doing things, but it works for me.

Easy tip: If you don't want to spring for dextrose powder, just buy any kind of glucose syrup (non high fructose corn syrup) based candy like any number of gummies and pop a handful of those 30-45 minutes before practice. The bodybuilders had it right for years.
@MrKanti-yy5ux
@MrKanti-yy5ux Жыл бұрын
@@TheKidYouKnow Simply put, glucose goes directly to your blood without needing the liver to break down the fructose in honey and fruit. You'll get your energy quicker and also burn through it more efficiently with the exercise.

@@TheKidYouKnow Granted, honey is something like 30% glucose and 40% fructose so it's not awful, either. I'd honestly just go without the fruit personally.

So true about the fats before training. Yesterday I ate a salad about two hours before training. The salad had higher fats due to the dressing and some walnuts. Even after two hours it still felt like I was digesting it. I ended up getting super gassed after only one six minute roll, and I think it’s because my body was still using energy to digest. I’m going to try switching to maybe some white rice and lean protein or maybe some no fat Greek yogurt with fruit and honey before training. It’s also good to give at least an hour for the digestion I feel.

When I’m rolling in the mornings I feel like I need more carbs, so it’s oatmeal or oat-based cereal and banana, w/ maybe a little peanut butter (plus coffee!!!). When I’m rolling in the evenings, I feel like I need more protein, so it’s chicken or steak w/ rice or noodles. But always at least 1.5 hours before class.

I do Judo and I found a couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on whole wheat bread with reduced fat peanut butter always did me the best. No it’s not the healthiest but it’s fairly high carb, a good amount of sugar, decent amount of protein and some fat but not enough to make me feel stuffed but enough to keep me full during the training session. Also it doesn’t give me acid reflux, which if you’ve ever experienced that during exercise, it can be debilitating.
@C0d0ps

Judo can burn a lot of calories. I don’t think your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches is a bad idea brother. - As always adjust your diet depending on bulking or cutting phases. - I am currently training 2x/day for my 66kg competitions and consume a fair bit of sugar (mostly fruits) for those 2-3h sessions.

Hey! I know this is not in topic of the video but I hope you can guide me in the correct direction! I started going to a bjj gym and loved the training, the people are great however after about a year I noticed that there was a problem with the gym infrastructure, since the roof is made out of asbestus sheets that would dust the mats. I got very concerned and talked to the Sensei and I helped by painting the roof that helped however the problem didn’t go away and I am concerned for my health. So I eventually quit the gym, despite I feel conected to them. I want to start again but dont know how to go on finding a new gym or I have even thought of taking on a different martial art. Please help! 🙏🏻

For me, 4 hours before training, 30gm protein isolate + 5 grams Creatine + 1 tablespoon Beet Root powder. Add water, stir, drink. No other food until after workout. I also have a 2 liter water bottle, add 1 teaspoon of pink salt, 1/2 teaspoon of powered potassium. I drink this during rolling session. I feel no energy loss during multiple roll sessions. Edit: Also, refrain from energy drinks that contain caffeine. These drinks lose effects as tolerance develops in body. Also, I eat a heavy meal after workout, asap.

Do you play for the Al Ain junior ranks right now ? Or are you looking to get accepted into the Al Ain academy ? Have you played professionally before, or for a pro team on the junior level ? (You mentioned you're about 16 or so, is that right ?) I've had an interest in football from the Gulf region and Arabic football for some time now. I have a business focused on promoting the Copa Libertadores (the South American Champions League) and I saw many young South American players were moving to the Gulf states to play ..which is how I became interested in football in the MENA region. Al Ain is a prestigious team in the UAE. Have you played for their reserve or junior squads ? If so, you would certainly have a bright future ahead. What position do you play ? Al Ain has some great players right now. My business focuses a great deal on scouting young footballers from South America, but, I'm thinking of expanding into coverage and scouting young footballers from the Gulf and other regions which, right now, are given less media attention, but in the future will continue to grow. (MENA, Africa, Asia, the Americas including Central America and the Carribbean). My outlet is English-language but, since many people from the UAE, Qatar, and the MENA region speak English, I feel that covering football in these regions, and helping identify and scout players in these regions, could be informative for football fans. E.g. a Man City or Liverpool fan, would be potentially quite interested to know about young emerging talents from the UAE, from Qatar, or from elsewhere in your region. I don't think football outside Europe/UK is given enough attention, but I believe the future will show that football in these other regions, will be a booming industry and area of interest. More and more people watch football from all over the world and more and more people will want to see and learn about rising stars from these lesser-known/less covered nations. All the best !
