I had a gunsmith put together a Solus action with a Krieger barrel and Trigger Tech trigger. I installed it in a MPA chassis. It regularly shoots less than 1/4" groups at 100 yards using factory Hornady ammunition. The Solus action is the smoothest 3-lug action i have handled. Its set up to use single feed or double feed magazine. I enjoyed meeting Pete. Ill take a look at his store. 😁

Cool video and well done. Another good option for folks who are budget limited would be to get a tikka or bergara, great guns with quality actions/barrels, shootable right away, and can upgrade to a chassis later on.

That is for the Bravo model of the Solus with the KRG stock (not the one shown in this video). Pete would match or beat that sale price (with suppressor) for any of the Solus models while Brownells is having the sale on them. I mean after all this is Pete doing the video with Karl, not Brownells.

Great video. I have the Solus KRG in 6.5C. Changing barrel today to 25 Creedmoor. Love the 25 cals. Also building a 25PRC. Barrel omes today. Berger 135 and Hornady 134 are great. Thanks guys.

When I went to school to be a gunsmith the instructors had a running joke: Customer: How accurate can you make my rifle? Gunsmith: How much money do you have? The point being that to get from 2 MOA to 1 MOA costs X, to get to 0.5 MOA costs XXX and on and on.

Definitely also Savage has some good products. Never had a Ruger made rifle buy from what I have seen its definitely quality and reliable no matter which one you choose.

I haven't found a cheap rifle yet that won't shoot tight groups when bedded and floated correctly. My most accurate rifle cost me $200 and shot jagged holes 10mm and less groups at 100 yards out of the box. A little elbow grease into finishing work, a new stock or chassis, and nice piece of glass; you can upgrade it as your budget allows. I have expensive and inexpensive rifles, they both do the same thing and can be just as accurate as each other.

I love those ruger Americans. I have that platform in 22wmr, 223, 22 250, 300 bo, and a left hand bolt in 308. Great for suppressor host. I'd rather have options like that instead of 1 expensive gun.

@@yep-sb4uf Americans are good rifles, I have a couple. They're basic to disassemble, but not my favorite design. Get familiar with the trigger assembly and springs, they like to go springin sprongin if you don't know where they are. They make a good action/barrel for a transplant into a boyds stock or even better a chassis, the stock they come with is not very good imo. Ruger is a great company to work with if there were an issue in my experience.

This country has instituted Bidenomics. I'm lucky if I can afford a Guns&Ammo magazine with pictures. I haven't bought anything since the stimulus checks. I bought my Grail gun and it took both stimulus checks and the tax returns that year. A Winchester model 70 with CRF like the original pre 64 models but I wanted all stainless. I got a new action sent it off had it blue printed and a stainless criterion 7mm RM barrel installed. I then dropped that in I new McMillan stock and finally painted to match the original Marine M40 sniper rifle. If I understand my dad right the very first M40s were Winchester long action control round feed and the a1s went to Remington 700s. I'm not sure all the little specs but I had mine built and painted according to what my dad told me and pictures of the one he carried when he was in nam. His was in 308 and another he had was in 30-06. Both basically the same just chambered different. The 308s really had problems with the action being long and the cartridge being short. I think this is why they went to the Remington actions. The Remingtons had a push feed action with spring loaded ejecter. The Winchester had the CRF with the fixed ejecter. Anyway my dad always liked the 30-06 better. I wanted to try and recreate the exact rifle he had but in a caliber of his choosing hence the 7mm. I gave it to him when it was done and seeing his eyes. It was well worth it.

Update on sniping from Ukraine: Bolt actions in fields are .338LM or bigger. .308 Semiauto AR10 working at night with thermal scopes. Creedmoor stayed at home.

I think my old pawn shop special Model 12 Savage, factory trigger, 4 X 16 X 50 Burris in 308 will out shoot that 6.5 Creedmoor Aero Precision. (and I'm a huge Aero Precision fan)... I'm old and not a great shooter, but my 168 grn Federal Gold Medal Match is capable of 2.5" groups @ 400 yards, as I've personally done it. Hoping to upgrade and find a good deal on a 6 X 20 X 50 soon. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks Karl, Cap't from Paducah)

You must use that scope alot not knowing what mag it was and being pretty prestine. Im on the shelf about my primary arms 4.5-27x56 athena bpr mil- its kinda heavy for my 6.5 but it only weighed 3oz more than the 3-18.. its just real stiff. Im thinking i might get the standard vortex pts gen ii or trijicon tenmile... i like leupold but u have to pay 2,000 more if you want a decent reticle on top of the flat 1200 you already pay for a plain crosshair

Need to clean your barrel before you shoot monolithic bullets too. It will dramatically affect your accuracy if you shoot cup and core bullets and switch to solid coppers.

If you’re church mouse poor and on a penny pinch, cash in the cans and raid your child’s piggy bank go buy yourself Howa M1500 LA barreled action in 6.5 prc. For the glass don’t be greedy get yourself a Mark5, Bushnel Elite or Steiner T5/6 XI 5-25. Better glass definitely helps🤷🏻‍♂️
