Really wish this was a manual. Beautiful design, amazing steel, I usually don't like two different scale materials, but I like this one.
@ExtraCrispy35713 күн бұрын
I agree, wish it was a manual, AND I also really dislike the two different scales! I don't understand why people like the 1/2 and 1/2?! Maybe it's my OCD (which I think is at epidemic levels in the "Knife Collector Community"! 😆). I'm happy with G10, Micarta, Aluminum or Titanium - just don't give me two types on one knife! You're right though, this is one of the better looking 1/2 & 1/2 knives I've seen.

I'm with you on both counts musky bro! Hey, have you seen the brand new ZT 0004 Fixed Blade yet? It's a bit longer blade (4.2 inches vs. the 3.45 inches for this 0512), but otherwise, the blade shape and Micarta handles are very similar. It also comes with a good quality leather sheath (Made in the USA)! To me, the 0004 looks perfect for an EDC fixed blade. Check it out!😎👍

@sawmillsam7156 I only have Magnacut in my new ABW slipjoint, which is very thin, so it's not a great representation for harder use, but for work use, I prefer M4, 3V, K390, Cruwear. I live up north though so no real rust concerns. The Magnacut is fine but doesn't really seem like a miracle steel or anything. I absolutely love the knife, but if he did one in a tool steel, I'd probably buy another one.

I'm one of those who would love to see ZT bring back the BIG TANK knives! It actually made me quite upset when the recently discontinued their 0308 model, because I had been waiting for a full-titanium version, but it never came, and (IMO), they just discontinued one of their best knives! Generally speaking, I just prefer larger folders, don't mind carrying them, and like to be "ready for anything". I also love their Full-Ti 0562. To me, they have been releasing way too many slim, slender, "gentleman's" knives lately that I'm not interested in. The thing I don't understand is, WHY NOT SELL BOTH TYPES OF KNIVES?! Isn't it good to market your products to a wider audience? This new 0512 is really cool looking, and I will certainly buy one if they release a manual version (to comply with knife laws where I live). Thanks Neeves, great video! Your sharpening demos are like watching a Jedi Master - seriously good!
@SpankyK12 күн бұрын
I sold my 0562 Ti as I couldn't stand the late detent. Bugged me enough to make a little money off the sale and I bought a Chavez 229. 0562 is a great tank though for sure.
@ExtraCrispy35712 күн бұрын
@@SpankyK Yeah, I know what you mean - that bothers me too! I have some other knives that I love except for that issue and it's quite pronounced on them, such as the LionSteel L.E. One (Karambit) and the SR-11 folder in Full-Ti. Very annoying! Question for you, when Metal Complex or others refer to a "Double Clutch" on the detent - is this what they are talking about? Is it when the blade gets hung-up on 2 parts of the tang when you try to close it (like you have to push the lock bar out 2x past different parts on the tang - or maybe flipper tab and tang)?

Cruwear, maxamet or s110v for a hard use/construction worker edc? I've got 20cv now but the longer I can keep a working edge, the better.
@ElonaldTrusk14 күн бұрын
I would definitely go with Cruwear.
@ExtraCrispy35713 күн бұрын
I agree with ElonaldTrusk (great name by the way! 😆🤣), of these 3 steels, I would go with the Cru-wear - very tough, decent edge retention, and not too difficult to sharpen. The S110V will hold an edge longer, but it is quite a bit harder to sharpen, and not as tough for hard use on a construction site (the edge might chip or roll). Maxamet will hold an edge incredibly well (it is one of the best steels for edge retention - second only to Rex 121), BUT Maxamet the least tough of all 3 of these steels - definitely not good for hard use. The only minor problem with Cru-wear is it is not stainless; however, it is usually coated and fine if you keep your knife clean/dry and lightly oiled. Your best bet would be a knife in CPM MagnaCut steel! It's almost as tough as Cru-wear, has the same (decent) edge retention, and VERY resistant to corrosion. It is THE BEST all around, balanced steels available on the market. Your 20CV is also a great steel with better edge retention and a lot better corrosion resistance than Cru-Wear, but, the downside is 20CV is nowhere near as tough as Cru-Wear! It's always a trade-off . . . unless you go with MagnaCut!

@@ExtraCrispy357 Thanks, I actually have a Deka in magnacut headed my way now! If usps would get their head out of their ass, I might have it before the month is over. I work in the deep south, so corrosion resistance is high on the priority list along with edge retention. Toughness is just an added bonus.
@ExtraCrispy35711 күн бұрын
@ Cool! The Hogue Deka in MagnaCut is an EXCELLENT choice! Such a great knife! Yeah, in high humidity the Magnacut is a wise choice. I'm an American living in Singapore, and, it's so humid here, that it feels like you're walking around in a sauna everyday! My son's Benchmade Adamas in Cru-Wear got some rust spots on the blade edge and where the logo is etched just from sitting in his drawer at home (coated parts were fine)! That Hogue Deka is such a great value for the quality and design you're getting and a bonus that it's Made in the USA! It's definitely on my list of knives to buy! Too many cool knives and not enough paychecks! Enjoy your new blade bro!
