Best present ever !! Birthday Corvette for a 10 year old !! Now will it start ?

As you can tell from the title we have had something incredible happen. A fan has mailed Ralphie a Corvette can you believe it? A 10 year old gets a Corvette for his birthday! Big thank you to the people who sent Ralphie this 87 Corvette L98 automatic car he was completely surprised and excited. Now can we get it running? This turned out to be one of our more complicated will it start videos because everything is computer controlled. But you know me I love my 80s cars and trying to figure out whats stopping them from running. Lets find out if it is a runner or not.

Man I’m one of those 26 year old guys that has maintained the “I don’t want a family or kids ever” line as long as I can remember. Seeing your awesome family hanging out together and working together makes me think your on to something. At the very least seeing you and your wife raise kids like Ralphie and your daughters gives me a bit more faith in the world. It was cool to share the moment even just a little bit!

This brought back some sweet memories. I taught my daughter to drive in a 1965 falcon with a 289 and 3 speed manual. I taught my son in a 1970 corvette with a 454 and a 4 speed manual. Both cars where quick but the kids caught on quickly. I will never forget the first time my son follow my directions to let the clutch out slowly and the give it some gas. When he felt it move he dumped the clutch and gave it 1/2 throttle. A thrilling sideways takeoff. On the serious side I taught them both to respect the power these machines have and to use them safely to protect themselves and others. Racing is done on a track not the street and that also applies to showing off.

Happy Birthday, Ralphie!!! You got the BEST present! Sold my 87 Vette about 4 years ago, loved that girl but I'm getting too old to wrench. Get those gauges working!! They work well when they work, pretty accurate too. Flush out the cooling system, do NOT EVER overheat that girl! Looks like she's got the Sport Seats option. That was $1100 when new! Check the manual on how to store the roof in back. Don't take off the cover in the storage well [under the rear glass] because you may never find another. Check the rear brakes, the parking brake may be sticking on. You got 4-wheel discs, but the parking brake takes shoes INSIDE the rear rotors. Don't forget to check the rear diff for fluid, too. New casings will make a HUGE difference in handling and stopping. If the A/C don't work, you might want to leave it be. Never worked well on mine, even after I did a full service on it, just too weak. Okay, enough for now. Really happy for you Ralphie, and the whole family! LOVE your channel!!!!!

I seem to remember a fuel pressure regulator being under there while you've got the top cover off. Also I think you have to take at least one of the side pieces off to put it back together with new gaskets. Fuel filter is probably plugged it's down on the passenger side along the frame.
