Rule of thumb that works 95% of the time. Originals or early pressings that you know are 💯 all AAA are almost always best especially country of origin. That is not always the case but I have found that 95% of the time it is. In addition, originals carry a collectibility cache that others can’t match.

I agree as rule of thumb, if I find an original for a decent prize I buy it. But… there are just too many cases in which a different country or (audiophile) reissue is even better. So that makes for an interesting hunt. Sometimes (like with Tommy) the 2nd pressing has the same stampers but better vinyl quality.

I've had the first uk press of POB and I think it sounds awful 😞 I bought the 2X LP remaster and its night and day TBO

Thanks ! Fantastic album ... Now - watch this... 2021 edition, even if compared to US 1980 ( not first press !!!), sounds so bad like you put blankets on your speakers. Master tapes deteriorate with time. It's in every case and every new reeditions. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ql7NfWSpZbdlppo I almost bought 2021 few days ago !!! :) You are so right, you never bought it. He is absolutely 100% correct !!! 'Vinylfromtheunderground 9 months ago Rule of thumb that works 95% of the time.
