I owned an Epson 800 and once the print head clogged I couldn't unclog it. Epson was going to charge me over $400 to replace the head and its a heavy printer to ship anywhere. I called Canon told them my story and they gave me $250 off their PR-10 and I love it. You can easily take out the print head and clean it yourself and worse case replace it with a new one. I will never own an Epson printer again! The prints are beautiful and I am glad you chose it as the #1 art printer!

Before you buy an Epson, check what the image area actually is. I used to have an Epson advertised as 17x22 inch, but it would only able to print a 13x19 inch area on that bigger paper.

I don't need anything too fancy. I need a sharp, high quality color printer that allows me to quickly make prints so I can tape them to the wall and hash out my ideas. Are there any really good LED printers and/or laser printers for artists and graphic designers? I'm leaning more towards laser than ink. Helpful reviews, thanks! I must admit, I struggle to trust Canon printers ever since the printhead errors / defects / crippleware that affected so many Pixma printers in the last decade (error B200 and U052). An issue that Canon never owned up to or officially fixed (settling the 2015 class action lawsuit with a $75 credit doesn't count as a fix or even an apology). I'm not bitter but genuinely unsure what reassurance Canon ever offered that we can now trust their workmanship and not have to worry about such frequent breakdowns. To those who have owned and operated these newer Canon printers beyond the 1 year warranty: is our printer still going strong? Any fatal errors?

There was a firmware update last year for the canon pro 1000 and you can now print up to 17"x48" with paper cut from a roll. It should be number 1 on your list.

So I'm planning to make stickers and I have everything BUT the right printer. I chosen a simple printer (Canon Pixma MG3600) and tried it out. The results...Heart wrenching 😩. No matter the res., It still comes out "washed out" and I wouldn't want to A. buy more ink for something like that and B. Sell that to consumers. My roommate had an ENVY printer which worked better than what I have now. Honestly, I just want a printer to be able to print out clean stickers and other illustrations.

the print for me is pretty decent BUT OMFG hp inks are just too expensive and so small (well atleast on my version of one of their printers) i had to constantly buy new cartridges and had to find them in different places everytime, also the amount of waste just from the cartridge box is insane and so is the throwing of the dried up/finished ones AND TRIED EVERYTHING BUT I JUST CAN’T SEEM TO REFILL THEM. Mmmmm I guess it depends on your budget + on the quality you want. If you want Gallery-like Quality you would want the Pixma pro 10 If you want a budget option the Pixma IP8720 should do the job. But if you intend on selling anything from the printer the Pixma Pro 10 is definitely the way to go.

You have to use them daily. Not weekly. Not monthly. DAILY. Canon printers are designed to remain clog-free, and if you let them sit, when you use them, they do huge cleaning cycles to clear the system. Your Canon was positively frugal compared to my Canon Pro-1000. This monster will eat your bank account alive if you don't use it. But if you actually print daily, it doesn't even do a small cleaning cycle before printing, and the ink tanks just last and last and last. Their programming has timers which clock the amount of time between prints. They also do cleaning cycles if they ever lose power or are turned off, meaning you need to plug them into a backup power supply. But it's ACTUALLY cheaper to print images than to let them run cleaning cycles.

heaven-leigh dakartis I think it really just depends on the paper. I’m still looking into it, but I think that if you were to use one of these high-quality printers with the specific heat transfer paper, the print would be high quality because of the actual printer and not the paper.

Hello there Salcius Linas! As far as I know the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 Is definitely one of the Best home printer options you could go for. It is definitely not as cheap as the others on this list, but will give you Extraordinary print quality, and is Great at black and white prints. Its maximum size print is A2 Size and it will handle 300gsm Thickness with no issues. It also has a manual feeder for weights above 300gsm The print quality of it is out of thise world, and is well regarded as one of the best higher end options. Hello there! Laser printers are really good for High-speed printing, but for accurate photos, and good colors I would recommend you stay away from laser printers. They also sometimes damage some Art-papers due to the heat. But the main Issue is they won't work best with most Art-papers and for Gallery-quality Photos. If you want high-speed printing, and don't care too much about the best quality possible, then a Laser printer would be an option you would want to go for! Laser printers are also much cheaper, hence the lower quality. which makes them great for Quick and Bulk printing. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask! Have a nice day!

Laser printers are a good option for specific projects - i.e Toner transfer, so are worth considering for creating artwork on to a substrate - one of my colleagues' nieces uses one for putting her designs on to hand made furniture. Im sorry if that is how it came across No I meant that the Canon Pixma Pro-10 is better than the Canon Pixma pro-100 the Pixma pro 100 is a Dye-based Ink printer, which isn't best for art papers, and art prints. That is why I Recommended the PIxma Pro-10 over it The reason I didn't inlcude the Canon imagePrograf Pro-1000 or the pro 6000 Is I wanted to include more affordable options in the video that will please most consumers. Most people won't be able to afford those options. However Im sorry for not mentioning that in the video, My bad. Okay so I have done a lot of searching and found what you need. On Epson's Italian website the maximum paper weight the ET 7750 can handle is 300 gsm So as long as you are not exceeding 300gsm you should be good. Otherwise the Canon-10 is a safer option for thicker papers and is known to print on canvas, and other thick papers. On Canon’s PRO 100 (The same as Canon 10, but Dye based option) manual they mention this: manual feed tray: From 4 to 23.6 mil (0.1 to 0.6 mm) (up to 93 lb (350 g /m)) Meaning they allow up to 350gsm on the manual feeder. So for more versatility of art papers the canon would be a good option. For More Ink, and less refilling the ET-7750 is the better choice. As long as you don’t go over 300 you should be fine with the ET-7750. And keep in mind, manufacurers will usually mention a Value Below their capability, so they are on the safe side. So you might be able to exceed their limits if you are lucky. However, The canon pro 10 is well known to handle very versatile paper. Good luck. I hope I cleared things out a little. Hey so I just wanted to give you a little of my own experience with the Epson EcoTank printer! I’ve had mine for 2 years and it works fairly well as long as I maintain it and clean it regularly. Sometimes the printer heads misalign (causing skips in the image and lines across the print job), and I have to go into settings and go through the realignment process before and/or after each print session. The colors are vivid and beautiful but I’ve struggled with the settings of the printer misreading blacks. Thick card stock goes through as long as I feed one at a time and keep it pressed along the back of the paper feeder. Overall: it has helped me print hundreds of prints, documents, and stickers, but lately the constant realignment and color skipping is making me look for an upgrade that will make my needs more efficient.
