For the past year and a half my protective style has been two strand twists and headwraps and my hair has grown so much and is so full and dense! I've saved my edges, hair and pocket doing this. I go to my local markets and buy loads of different coloured/ patterned scarves for super cheap. Wayyy cheaper than buying hair extensions and paying someone to install the style every couple of months. Similar to wigs I can just whip it off at the end of the day and tend to my hair. Plus my whole look/ aesthetic has changed and I'm way more confident with my appearance. I don't feel the need to have the coiliest twist out or fluffiest braid out to feel confident. I take comfort in knowing that my hair is moisturized and protected without compromising my self image. Nubian queening it 2k19💁✌

Love the shimmies 😂 when I first went natural (1 year and a half ago) a few months in I decided that my #1 style would be to tuck my hair under a head wrap/scarf , I wore this style in a low bun (covered w/ scarf) for a year. It was convenient af, my bosses didn’t care and it kept nosy people out of my hair 😂 My hair grew so much in that year ! A little Over 6” (currently waist length). My hair underneath were in Felicia braids 😂 I kept it clean and conditioned , even tried chebe. Anyways now that I’ve been wearing my hair out more often my growth has been slower (probably breakage)so I returned back to my low bun turban . You and another KZbinr talked about using rollers for your ends, only she does it just over night (but still has seen growth). I recently incorporated this method using satin rollers and my scarf style. I think you both are on to something . Especially with what you said about your hair being entrapped in heat and having tucked ends. During my weave phase I got a lot of hair growth despite not taking care of my natural hair and I attest it to those same reasons.

As you know, black women traditionally what wear hats to church and not necessarily because of their religious belief but it's just how we dress. So I somehow think that people, particularly the black people who mess with me, think that any kind of head covering is inappropriate for work and should be reserved for church or used only if your religion calls for it on a daily basis. To me it's the same as a Caucasian person wearing a hair ornament or something of that nature. Ornaments or a way of dressing up your hair or your head and that's how I see the head covers. Then you put on some bad earrings that sets it off just perfectly!

From South Africa and I have been wearing headscarfs religiously. I'm also a lazy natural and I'm pretty good at headwrapping so it works well for me-stretched my hair is almost passed my shoulder blades. So I cleanse, moisterise, twists/braid and only when I go out I do a a formal headwear, during the normal day at home (i worked from home) I wear a satin or thin scarf around my hair. Tip: never make the scarf too tight - depending on the style you wrap-it may pull your hair

I wore my hair in twists for months last year, and I've been wearing my hair covered for spiritual reasons pretty much every day for 2 years now. Maybe its the fabric of the covers (linen or cotton mostly), but i didn't see any progress in growth, i wore my twists in a small bun (my hair is fine and short anyway), and I mostly did a bun style wrap. or maybe its just my lack of a moisturizing routine...either way, i stopped doing twists because i caught myself retwisting all the time and tearing out more hair that way. I tried plaits and bigger twists, even just plain old buns.
@amandathomas-chughtai60175 жыл бұрын
Covered my hair for a similar reason and I saw growth maybe my method might be something for you to consider... Before wrapping my hair was just past my shoulders but not quite armpit length. My hair is now bra strap length. - I do not wear my hair in buns all the time to reduce the stress that, thay style can cause. I also make sure I keep my hair moisturized and I do not wrap my hair too tight. - I twist my hair into 8 sections - I wrap my hair with a satin scarf without putting it into a clip... so I tilt my head forward and take the twists on the right side and gently place and pat them on the left side and vice versa. Then I quickly wrap my hair while my head is tilted so it doesn't fall out of place lol. - With my head still tilted I place a "Volumizing Scrunchie" on top Normally placed at the back to mimic low bun -Cover it with a satin wig cap to keep it all in place - And thennnnn I use a head wrap usually black cotton material but I'll use a colorful one from time to time. May sound like work but it takes no more than 5 min. All the best with whatever you decide is best for you 😊 *For anyone else reading this I am tatted and I work for the govt. It's definitely possible in some states and countries to be covered and not discriminated against.
@blessedby55 жыл бұрын
@@amandathomas-chughtai6017 Sounds doable, I think the trick is probably the satin scarves you use under the actual wrap. And the moisture! I'm REALLY SUPER BAD at sticking to a moisturizing routine. I've been natural for 8 years, and my hair has stayed the same short length or even gotten shorter in that amount of time. The only time I saw growth was during pregnancy, but it quickly went away after. I love @IndigenousStrandz because her products are really affordable and her routine seems simple enough, but it still takes a lot of dedication and its too much for me, i love seeing someone else succeed at long healthy hair.

How long do you usually keep each set of twists in? Like how far apart are your wash days? Do you ever retwist your whole head without washing first?
@wapaa265 жыл бұрын
Definitely watch her earlier videos. I luv em. I believe sometimes she does a section at a time for her retwists every so often (it's a lot of hair so don't blame her). Plus if I remember correctly she washes her hair every 3 weeks to a month, or really whenever she feels the need to. Everybody's different, so above all else listen to what your hair wants and needs.

How often did you retwist them? I sent an email because I was confused a bit on some parts of the video What did you moisturize your twist with? (not the ends)

Can you show how you did the hair wrap?
@petite22763 жыл бұрын
I wonder if you can use beads instead of perm rods for your ends. Imma try it!

What if you hair is short? Can I still do it? My hair is thinner in the front. I wear wigs but I have this urge to wear wraps.

I need to see how you do hair wraps when your hair is not that long

I think this may be good for locs too - minus the perm rods of course. Thanks for the idea!

It is. I have locs and while I don't wear them eeeeeeeeveryday..I do wear often in pineapple method and have witnessed hair growth/length retention! Love it!

do you have a searchable term for that hair sock thing? I just tried "elastic hair sock" and got those sock bun things.
@IndigenousStrandz115 жыл бұрын
It's a elastic hair bonnet

What about silk rollers I would think it won't be as heavy. Might be a bit more of an investment.
