I have been plunging for 55 days straight now and it has become a life changing thing in my life. Being from NJ it's starting to get warmer so I made the investment in a DIY cold plunge set up. Everything comes in a couple days... very excited! Your videos have been so helpful. Thank you man!

How do you install it? With a chiller or with out ( just to circulate the water).
@DavidMausJr Жыл бұрын
You just need this, power and tubes but to chill the water you need a chiller for sure.

Fantastic video, thank you so much for making this. I have a 100 gallon metal tub, and I am looking for a pump to keep the water running during my baths to avoid the warmth build up around my skin. Do you think the first pump you recommended would do the job? Or is it just too sketch to run a pump while you take a bath?

Glad it was helpful! That is up to you, ive run with this submersible pump for over a year and always kept it on. But people said i was crazy.. You can always use it as an inline pump just to move water around too though

Anyway to run pump while plunging safely, like the plunge tub to keep water moving while plunging?

Is there value in having a pump if I'm not using a chiller in my Ice barrel?
@DavidMausJr Жыл бұрын
I would say it could help you with keeping the water moving, creating circulation, and keeping the water cleaner for longer.

For these pumps that are submerged in the water, how to you feel about the electrical cord being in the water and then plunging. I’m looking to advert any electrical shock issues and think a in-line would solve this. Which inline are you using

At first I honestly never thought twice about it but i moved to inline just to be safe. I use the same active aqua pump, it can be used as both and its great!

@DavidMausJr I love your content-you are the man and I admire your hustle. Quick question…I have an Ice Barrel 300 set up with Penguin 3/4 chiller I just set up outside. I used it a few weeks. Since it is getting under 40 degrees here in MD, I stowed the chiller away for the winter. I have an ozone that I use but want the water flowing too. Can I use the underwater pump to do this, knowing there is no chiller (the IB 300 keeps it cold!)? I’d like to keep it flowin’ and any advice would be great. Thanks dude!

David, your videos are great! However, I cannot seem to find anything that shows me how to connect the pump. I’ve been using a Penguin Chillers that has a pump already in it but I have removed it for the winter time because it’s too cold where I am. I want to put a pump in to keep the water circulating. Is there any video that you can direct me to that shows you the specifics of how to connect this pump? I’m sorry I’m not very mechanically inclined so I need a 101 level video!

Also, can you describe the effectiveness of running ozone in sub 40°F temperatures?

So just making sure when you get inside of the water, you turn the pump off so there’s no chance of you getting electrocuted. You’re not in the water when the pumps running.

Thanks David. I have an aquarium 1/3 hp chiller set up with an ice pod (80 gals of actual water). I have aluminum bubble wrap around it for insulation and inflatable tube for the top and it’s in the shade 100% of the day. Outside temp in SD is 75° on average right now. I use the 400 gph aqua pump (I use the inline setup) with 3/4 tubing. I can get the water down to 46° but that’s it without adding ice. My question is, would getting a larger pump (like the 1100 gph) make much of a difference? Or am I looking at mid 40s no matter what because of the cheap ice pod setup? Cheers, Joseph

Thanks for all the info, I recently purchased the Active Aqua 1/4 chiller and connected to Active Aqua 1000 GPH inline pump. It worked great for first week but now there are times there is no outflow into my plunge. I'm assuming there should always be a constant flow of water coming out of the chiller. Thanks for any advice.

Great video, David! Just bought the Ice Barrel 300 and looking forward to it! Does anyone know if inline chillers do okay in ambient temps below freezing? It frosts a lot here in the PNW in the evenings and mornings. Does it affect how long the inline pumps will function (its life)? Thanks so much!

I dont have much experience with below freezing temps (in FL) but a lot of others that have built these same setups have and i hear they are fine as long as they remain on.
