The simplicity of it all is what truly makes it a masterpiece, everyone else uses precision jumps on enemies, grabbing shells mid-air and many other things that require skill, this level however is so simple and straightforward that these people who have been tainted by the Kaizo God of Evil Invisible Block Placement, can't deal with it like normal people. It's so simple it goes over their heads.

From this montage, you can tell that every one of these streamers are skilled. Carl's hook for these levels are all based on understanding the theme and ultimately challenging these skilled players and push them past what they thought they could do. Its not filled with trash jump scares that kill you instantly. Watching Carl slowly build up the pain and punishing mistakes was an absolute masterpiece. You can see the anguish when a mistake was made. Almost no one in this cut said, "Carl put that in there to kill me", it was always, "Oh no, I did X or Y and fell" which really drove home how well this was made. Excellent work Carl!

I think the most brilliant subtle troll of all is that the level really punishes the impatience inherent in trying to be an entertaining streamer. You're trained to avoid taking too long on things, but so many of the mistakes I saw streamers make in this level could have been avoided if they'd stopped and waited for the correct wind direction or a gap in the wind.

I half agree with you here. Although I don’t think it was impatience that was caused by trying to be “an entertaining streamer”; but so much time was lost due to gigantic set-backs that stemmed from gigantic over-reactions, letting go of the controller and throwing their hands around, covering their faces, etc. Instead of being able to somewhat recover with minimal loss; many of them panic and fling themselves down the mountain to the beginning; or forget the wind is still active and while standing around get blown off a platform and down while not paying attention. Screaming “no! No! No!” and hoping all around until eventually the wind changes direction and off they go. The snake is probably the worse part because there is a reset door available; but instead of pausing at all after a mistake and thinking to go back to it; they launch themselves off to the right and back down the mountain where you should be trying to avoid the right at all costs.
