Lilly, you are correct in staying with your older bow. All of your muscle memory is tuned into it, your form is perfect, you have total confidence when you are holding it, your hits are instinctive and precise at all ranges. Besides all that I have never seen you light up with such a happy and beautiful smile as you did when you were hitting the kill zones one after another without fail. This is your Bow!!! 😊

I did the same thing Lilly, I first started off with the very basic 3 piece takedown bow, but I wanted the newer technology so I bought a ILF bow. What I found is that I like the simplicity of my first bow, ILF has too many adjustments that can be made, and for a Type A perfectionist person like myself I was constantly adjusting it. I sold my ILF bow and went simple again, best decision I ever made with archery.

That is so true Lilly, sometimes certain tools do become integrated into our very being, like your bow. Thinking about it a little I have a couple of knives, a 60 year old scout hatchet, a pistol and rifle, a canoe, and one particular canoe paddle that while anyone would able to operate but have become a part of me I'm sure mostly due to very repetitive professional use. Makes one feel they can accomplish anything needed with such tools. Good thoughts here Lilly and great shooting, thank you.

Nice to see there are people who know how to shoot instinctively. Look at your target. Shoot it. No necessity to have a range finder. Just let your brain do the calculations. It just seems to work much better for me and it's an industrial machine. One of my others is an industrial machine as well but a much newer model and it just does not seem to stitch the same. I'm with you on sticking with the older model that I'm more comfortable with, it makes perfect sense.

Same reason I am using older fiberglass and wood tech in the single piece recurves too, smoother and quieter then the single piece bows using carbon fiber having heard those online comparing, not to mention others out there in reviews tend to find the limbs on the single piece carbon fiber to warp easier then other limbs unless the bow is using for the front a full on single piece carbon fiber backing on the bow and this makes those other bows $$$$ more due to how expensive it is for a single piece carbon fiber backed bow. The bows I currently see being made most in Carbon fiber backing that are single piece are the flatbow style longbow in several styles including the Howard Hill type or the reflex deflex that is only a micro reflex deflex to a minor just noticeable reflex deflex bow due to those bow types being more forgiving when shooting and to make them as fast now as a recurve bow.

@@Sekonism Nope. Yeah, it's generally a playground for the wealthy, but with some care, you can visit/vacation on Martha's Vineyard without being independently wealthy. I was there 2 nights with my brother and a friend. We got a cheap hotel room one night and a nice bed and breakfast (inland house) a second night. I was in my teens at the time and barely had 2 dollars to rub together. Owning property is a different story, of course. Buying stuff is generally prohibitive. But you can take food with you instead of eating out.

@Mark Rogers There are a lot of rich people on the island, but not true that only rich folk are allowed there. Actually most of the Islanders that live there year around are not rich and have to work two or three jobs to be able to afford to live on the island. Both of my parents thankfully had decent paying jobs, but no; we were not "Rich folk." We are hard working Americans that actually know how to manage our money and live with in a budget. From age sixteen I worked part-time/ full-time, kept a B average, mowed the lawn/ helped with any landscaping projects, washed the dishes, kept my room/ bathroom clean and helped take care of the dogs/ keep the house clean. Also like everywhere else in the world the vineyard has homeless people living there too.

I own the Samick Sage 3-piece take-down recurve in 50# draw, and I like it for bow fishing but the line tends to sometimes wrap around the hand screws that hold it together and when this happens your line snaps due to the velocity of the arrow leaving the bow and next thing you know, your fishing arrow is in the bottom of the lake, or worse, in an injured fish that is swimming away. I have learned to be very careful of not letting my line get looped around one. It only takes a slight breeze for this to happen. Still a great bow for fishing as long as you are aware of the possibility of it looping over the hand screw.

Definitely, i have tested it and works great. I put a little ball in the end of my arrows and some whisker in the slingshot and you can totally shoot arrows.

I started shooting as a kid in scouts. Archery merit badge was fun. I always shot recurve and I like traditional bow hunting magazine. Great video. We know your not shedding 1 t shirt for clickbait. We love watching you for your knowledge and enthusiasm.

Good stuff. It has been 30+ years since I shot my recurve. I'm too old and weak to use it anymore, We used to set up empty beer cans and shoot them , too old for that as well . I now use a crossbow with a hand crank for hunting. Love your videos, Many thanks

Thanks for letting me know. I am enjoying Alone season seven . It is far better than Bear Grylls or Naked and Afraid and the last man or woman surviving gets $1 million . I think Lily would have a good chance

Oi! Missus, around 16 mins in, I realized you were using a selection of arrows. Could you please give us some information on the arrows you were using, in particular the wooden ones. Are they matched to your bow? How do they compare to the others? I really enjoyed the video, course layout & various targets. Certainly that pigeon regretted his cheekiness, you had the bow for the job.

Hi there. So in general I recommend carbon arrows, but I also had a cheap wooden arrow with me, that I would take for the risky shots. wooden arrows are not as accurate in general. so carbon is the way to go.

Lilly! The best recurve bow I've ever shot was from one I personally made. From felling the tree, splitting the log into staves, tillering into shape and heating into recurve myself. It's not a bragging piece and I don't mean to brag. It's from the satisfaction of making each and every step work on a primitive piece of equipment. I am very curious as to what kind of native wood you have in your local area that was traditionally used for bows? I'd like to see you make one for yourself. I believe, after watching your videos, that you would do an excellent job!

Just found you’re channel..Was fun to watch you sling arrows with a traditional bow, good job. I have a Martin Hunter as my go to bow and also a PSE Kudo takedown, both are about 50 pound bows, again it was fun to watch you shoot.

I've been practicing with a Hungarian horse bow for 3yrs. I'm getting decent at it and being a hunter(I use a crossbow for my hunting) I'm thinking of taking part in the primative hunting season Maryland has just created. At 20yds I'm good with the recurve horse bow. My groups at 30 tho are not like yours at all! Ive been thinking of going to a samick sage and seeing u with ur bow I think you sold it for me! Good shooting-best wishes from USA!

I also don't care for too much speed. My 2 custom recurves were Blacktail Bows, 62" long and 54lbs. One a takedown w/7-7.5" brace, the 1 PC. brace 7.5-8". The takedown was faster and I could never shoot it as well. I had problems shooting too high for my natural hold so I upped the point wt. from 100gr to 200gr and I'm now dead on with my natural hold position.
