One thing that always irked me was how they treated Mega Evolution. In Gen 6, it was something awesome (an extra-strong new form built up with bonds between Pokemon and Trainer) and built up as such throughout the game... and then the _immediate_ generation after, its backstory is changed so that it's flat-out stated to be a terrible thing that literally drives its users insane while killing them slowly and painfully (not unlike Guts' Berserker Armour from _Berserk),_ and then it's unceremoniously removed from the series entirely before we even got to see ones that would've benefited from having a really cool Mega Form (Milotic, Lapras or the Gen 2 starters, for example) while replacing it with basically the same thing (Gigamax). Can't say much about dynamaxing cause I have never played Sword and Shield, I am one of those whose passion for pokemon died after seeing where the games were heading. Nintendo has their own reasons as to why they make the games the way that they do. It could also be related to the technical problems that they are having behind the scenes of the games development like it was trying to program pokemon gold and silver. They wanted to remake Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as faithful as possible to the original game. By the way, you are probably missing TM Sludge Bomb in the game. They already gave their warning inside of Ruby and Sapphire about exactly what the player base would be doing surrounding the issue. I think that they actually wanted to the idea about the other flying pokemon in the game, but they probably jotted down to the idea to be used at a later time for another game. Deoyss would not even be inside of the game to be captured, if someone did not make a particular comment way back when Nintendo was doing the tours around the US in certain cities handing out the Aurora Ticket for Fire Red and Leaf Green. They did infact handout the Aurora Ticket for Emerald, but only for 1 day. Thankfully I found someone on Ebay selling the custom cartridge for Aurora Ticket for Emerald. He is not doing it anymore since it likely took out a lot of the credit to even be able to have it to sell in the first place. I found offered by the seller shortly after I found the footage on KZbin explaining exactly when and where Nintendo was handing out the Aurora Ticket for Emerald for a day only.

@browncow52103 жыл бұрын
I'd argue before Galar, Hoenn was the worst offender. The original Dexit, no Day/Night and the subtle changes that came with them, no Ditto making breeding far more restricted, you only get one box legendary, practically no postgame in Ruby and Sapphire, and your rival is a joke of a challenge who doesn't even fully evolve their starter. There are actually fewer Pokemon available to catch in Ruby or Sapphire than Gold or Silver. The time system in Johto and its events made it feel like a world that's going about its business in spite of what you're up to, while Hoenn just feels stagnant and unchanging. This is the point where they started focusing far more on story, which this series is seldom good at, instead of gameplay which is normally its strength.

GTS makes sense being in home, it means you dont have to spend money on Switch online while the free version of home exists, and you get full national dex functionality. It isnt very hard to defend that decision, it’s simply impractical to exist in SwSh.

Counterpoint, listing a GTS trade now takes significantly longer as you have to transfer between 2 devices and have to install an external app. Sure, in Home, it is free to do so without giving Nintendo money, but that doesn't mean the GTS (A core feature at this point) should have been cut from the main game. The decision is pretty much indefensible.
@CabbageYippee3 жыл бұрын
@@Taenarius no not really it doesn’t take that long, you dont install the app every time you make a process and a transfer doesn’t actually take that long, it literally makes no sense to have to worry about a GTS function in every game when it would be better for the consumer to have it in an app you have more freedom with.
@Taenarius3 жыл бұрын
@@CabbageYippee You can't just say you have more freedom, especially when that statement isn't true. Fundamentally the GTS feature is the same as the one introduced in gen 4, pick a pokemon, ask for a pokemon and a level range and you're done. It would have been the same in the game, save the premium slots, that I must stress cost extra money. It is better for the consumer for it to be in both the game and the app, to say anything otherwise is apologism. Home isn't terrible, the ability to trade away from the switch is nice, but it should not be required.

I do agree. These location based evolutions are cool for the games they‘ve been introduced with, but should be changed in the next generation. These locations are meant to be memorable and give a bit of flavor to the region itself as well. If you think of Leafeon and Glaceon you should think of the moss and ice stones in Sinnoh; It gives these Pokemon this identity of belonging to Sinnoh. It loses it‘s identity when every region following Sinnoh has a place, where you can evolve these Pokemon. It doesn‘t make the landscape of Sinnoh as cool or unique anymore. The only reason to make location based evolutions is, to make these Pokemon more intertwined with the landscape of the region itself. I don‘t see a point to to implement a location in every following game, which intertwines with this Pokemon as well as a location in the region it originates from. Why do you even do location based evolutions, if you can find these locations in like every region?

They made sure for a fact that the player could get both orbs before even starting the game without fighting any trainers with the wall through walls cheat code. They explained that was intended to be used by single children or people who cannot afford both games. They then mentioned to male sure that you turn off the cheat code and then play the game normally until you encounter your game legendary. They did not mention anything about how using other cheat codes will affect affect the legitimacy of the items. Although they did immediately remedy the situation with encountering Munchlax on trees as soon as possible, since they were fully aware if his existence. They just did not put into the game with the reason being something related waiting for the game to get remade or something like that. Nintendo fully gave an explanation as why exactly they did what they did.

Honestly I really enjoy Dyna/Gigantimax over Z-Moves and Megas. I know it's controversial but I view them as a happy medium between the 2. Instead of a single use (Z-Move) that provide a single buff. And 3 turns Instead of the full time (mega) and give either buffs/debuffs to you or your opponent. I feel like it could've been improved on if they gave each Gigantimax unique abilities, though I feel like it would break things in the game.
@sammydray59193 жыл бұрын
Depending on impactful the buffs max moves provide or just the ability to wreak havoc for three whole turns, dynamax is far stronger than permanent megas. Megas took away your item slot (except mega rayquaza) which is huge in competitive battling and the limited amount of megas meant that it was much easier to predict which mon was the mega or predict when the opponent might dynamax could determine the flow of the entire battle if you predict right. Not to mention megas that changed abilities often had completely different play styles pre and post mega. Like how manectric users would delay mega evolution just to utilise its lightning rod ability before finally evolving. Or how sableye would not mega evolve just to utilise its prankster ability and would only evolve when magic bounce was needed. Then there were mons like garchomp who just never used their megas because of the loss of speed. Point is as restrictive megas were distribution wise, they were a great addition to the game and competitive as a whole. Now I am not saying dynamax is bad or unskilled. Vgc and doubles in general have shown just how skillful it is and how much creativity it allows. However as far as singles go, dynamax is HORRIBLY designed (which is kinda bad since almost all of your in game campaign is single battles and the game itself doesn't really do anything to push players towards doubles even though thats the official format). There is a reason why dynamax got banned from basically all tiers. Point is while dynamax is universally available, its just too unbalanced and only designed with one format in mind while completely disregarding the other. Which is just bad game design.

I wouldn't mind HMs, they were the best way to add, as you said, a Zelda-like progression to the world. The bad part, especially in Gen 3 and 4, is that they cannot be forgotten, forcing you to get stuck with many suboptimal moves that you cannot get rid of unless you talk with one specific NPC (and it doesn't help that in most cases he's right near the end of the game, by which point HM slaves have already become dead weight in battle). If they could be forgotten like normal moves or have a way to work around at least the important ones (Surf, Fly, Strength - like ORAS' Eon Flute, which is basically a better version of the Fly HM in all but name), I definitely wouldn't mind them.
