I've been doing a similar exercise for several years now and I can tell you that this increases your sense of rhythm in everything that you will play on the guitar. A variation would be to play with a swing feel and other time signatures as well.

You are an excellent teacher. As good as any I have ever seen. God bless your work!

Hey Claus! After playing for about 500 hrs I finally feel like i had a breakthrough with rhythm. I was searching high and low for someone like you. I guess I am ready to jam along with a drum track really soon. I mean I can already but I am not good yet. everything you teach just helps me get better. Thanks 🙏

This deserves way more attention! I randomly clicked through the video (I know, worst thing you can do in an instructional video) and just by watching a couple of seconds here and there it gave me a very clear idea about how to train rhythm and having fun doing it. Thanks so much.

I finally understand what guitarists are doing with their faces. Great exercise. Really easy to understand. Just like sports you don’t just practice plays you also practice the simple movements. Thanks.

Really, really helpful and nicely explained. The ideas and structure in your lessons of using the advantages of our brain and to UNDERSTAND how our brain works is phenomenal. Every other teacher is just "teaching" how you play this lick and that chord. But your videos in general and of yourse THIS one here is the way to master your brain...Thanks for that. Very motivating. Not just for playing Guitar...in many cases it is also transferable in life

If here is any beginner guitarist. I’m not a master or anything Just trynna deliver an advise (or a message as you call it ) from an intermediate player where ever you are skill wise just keep on practicing rhythm with metronome or just simple track, that’s the most important aspects of guitar playing cuz I just don’t want anyone struggle like me, I thought playing fast is great playing but it’s worst thing you can do as a guitarist ( especially as beginner ) it’s gonna be boring but trust me it’s worth the most in becoming a good player

I started playing about 8 months ago and one thing I feel I’m really lacking is my rhythm playing. Can’t wait to start using this exercise
@Gullsz3 жыл бұрын
I found playing rhythm games on a Alesis drum machine really helped my rhythm guitar. Also, playing to a metronome and making the metronome groove rather than your guitar groove. As if you are playing the metronome rather then it playing you.
@lelandgaunt7130 Жыл бұрын
😂🤣 that's what you're really lacking after only 8 months huh? Not laughing at you, just the innocent comment.

How do you approach the challenge of strumming with varied patterns on which/how many strings you play? Is there any kind of anchor/reference point to help? You did that great video on the strumming/picking challenge, where you switch between free hand and PC bone anchored which is great when going from strumming->picking individual strings. I'm asking about a rhythm kind of like strumming all strings down -> strumming up and down on just D and G string -> strumming just B string kind of thing.

Man oh man this is what I needed because buddy my rhythm is so shit it's not even funny, my "counting" is basically me finding the whole notes and faking everything else.

Just beginning with rhythm but can someone explain why the 2 + 4 are on up strums with the triplets. I thought 16 notes you play 1e+a…. Why do you skip the a part? Is this a different time signature? Don’t you always want your 1,2,3,4 on the down strum?

strumming hand training would be better name, dont forget about us left hand players haha. great vid!

@psteeg35515 жыл бұрын
it's not the strumming technique per se, but mostly the timing of your strums and your left-hand-mutes. In combination. that's why he says you can also just use your hands and clap rhythms, as long as you focus on correct timing

QUESTION: Upon buying and properly utilizing the course "Fretboard Freedom" can one play and improvise anything they want flawlessly (yk the way Claus plays without having to think and it sounds right every time)?
@williamwhite70414 жыл бұрын
Raima Hossain I have fretboard freedom. Very good course and takes a lot of practice, but he breaks it down really well. As far as flawlessly? He gives you the road map and it’s up to you on how dedicated you are and how much you practice. It definitely helped me open up the fretboard. He teaches how you can link different scales used in improvising. I would think to play like him would take principles taught in that course plus years and years of practice and further learning. I do recommend the course.

Is this good for playing in a band? Should be right?
@oneeyemonster32625 жыл бұрын
I dont use a metrodone. I do use drum machine VST with different drumming style. The drumming grooves and patterns different even a particular style.. such as alternative rock. metal verse rock or blues.ect The reason is when I play the blues or 3/4....there's a SWING feel to it. I also play the drums ( it helps but not require).. Like you say....I can only focus on one thing at a time..The various drum groove it's so Im not thinking about drumming patterns and just feeling the groove. It takes time to get use to it...At first my mind would go blank or I couldnt come up with riffs when I switch music style....Plus I enjoy writing cool riffs or different chord progressions. I like playing rhythm as much as I do lead..as long as the has more than 3 chords in it.lmao Sometimes , I just select a random drum groove.. and ReCORD..Im not thinking about writing a song..I'll go back and listen to the recording...if I like something....I'll work around it. Other times music will just flow out of me....sometimes lots...other times NOT. When in NOT...I do the different excersize.
