I bought this gun 5 days ago and bought two 6 ah batteries. I've been throwing shingles on with it for the past 4 days on full reroof jobs. This gun is awesome. As long as you get the bigger batteries for it you can roll all day with this gun.

We have 2 in house crews, one that does full roofs and one that does repairs. Repair crew always complained to me about taking compressor for a 10 minute job. I have even tried getting c02 tanks hooking up them to roofing guns, but the change in temp messenger it up. For sure a great start in the cordless idea. Testing the gun would be great.

Actually for a Dewalt Coiled roofing nailer it’s pretty common that it jams like that so that’s actually really normal in the older versions and the only feedback I would have for Dewalt about the new cordless roofing nailer is that the fan is loud even though it’s necessary to keep it cool. The roofing nailer is also great for siding wood shingles or GAF siding shingles .

Great job Dimitri. That's an awesome thing to do for your audience. I'm a foreman for a roofing contractor in california. My boss, crew, and myself all watch you'r videos and appreciate all your efforts in changing the stigma of our industry. Currently our whole crew shoots dewalt air guns. We've all been waiting for this moment! I would love an opportunity to review this side by side with the air gun. Thanks again.

This is so sweet! I'm, a pretty new contractor and do a lot of sub work on roofs this soo much more convenient than hauling around pneumatic guns. Would save tons on set up and tear down time not to mention not having to fuss with an air hose at your feet while you're up on the roof.

Ideally this gun wouldn’t be the best for a roofing project, maybe a diy home owner shed project. But this gun would be amazing for steep repairs, and any little to big repairs in general. Just hook up a battery and it’s go time. No compressor no generator no bs, timesaver on repairs. I’d love to give this gun a review out here from New York.

This looks like a great idea for repair work. Id be glad to review it for you. We run 2-3 repair crews at all times doing 10-20 repairs a week. Many times those repairs are 4,5,6 bundles of so. Right at that point where you dont want to set a compressor up but its faster than hand nailing. Seeing it last for 5 bundles will cover most repairs. Im interested to see how long batteries last when its hot or cold out. Thanks for all the helpful videos.

Instructions might explain how to easily clear jams. As long as you are doing roof pitches where you don t have to reach up from scaffolding the weight should not be an issue. Might need to work with lighter gun and small battery for the weak roofers who have never lifted weights!

Firstly, I want to comment on the fact that I have NEVER read a DeWalt warranty and user manual. I mainly am a roof repairman, and I LOVE the idea of a tool like this in my tote. I carry up there to do my daily repairs! Will go great with all my other Dewalt 20 and 60-volt tools and batteries. AMAZING design and honestly that gun looks like it worked really good. I'm generally not a video recording kind of person, but if you are really sending us one of those with just the expectation of us using it on our day to days, then count me in! I'd be more than happy to make that exchange. Also, Dimitri and the roofing insights team, you guys are amazing with what you are all up to and the giveaways now. Great job, and keep up the excellent work.

@@RoofingInsights3.0 So cool, you want me to go more in-depth. It would be an honor to have you read about Metro Detroit Roofs Llc. I did file my article of incorporation in January of 2018. This and claiming no income for the taxes and a 25 dollar refiling fee for 2020 were the entirety of MDR action in '18. So really, all I have are data for 19 and half of 2020. were still a baby, and the reason I didn't do anything all fiscal year was that September 2017- until mid-November of 2018. Then having a bad enough dry spell of work, generally provided from GC's, that scared me into making a list of comprised of 37 companies that were my mission to speak to the decision-makers for any repairs/ work distribution outsourced. (If they had such services) it took nine days for the final person to tell me to stop calling them lol. Still, I ended up with two companies hiring me over the phone to take on any roof-related or handyman related services they needed, and both already had a little stockpile of repairs tucked away for me to start. At this point, all that invested out of pocket was the article of inc. But because I would need to snatch up the cheapest "roof" specific liability policy. Never once considering trying to pull a fast one on my new GC's giving me a shot or even scarier, god forbid something happens first time out officially, and I end up being the guy Chuck Gataka. The problem solvers are waiting to bust next. No thanks, so I did immediately purchased a policy and contacted Michigan to file a comp exclusion so as not to lose sleep and conduct business the way gentlemen do, capitalize on capitalism. 2019 ended 307k total with a lightning strike on Home Advisor that lead to the closing of a repair lead. I was one of the three bids and ended up winning. It's a total 260k project revenue for me, but we only wound up finishing the first three trailer communities needing to have the required repairs done that HUD found on this company from Indiana' has here in MI. We finished 86k of that project before 2020 came to an end. 2019 New roof installs totaled 103k of 11 total residential jobs. Did 118 small repairs for 118k and change for a 1000 average. After 2019 and with me doing 90% the repairs myself keeping overhead to almost nothing for half the year, I was able to fill the coffers always to have 3 months of runway for emergency's accommodating my trailer park boys repair crew that was going full time until shutdown. We almost got another 90k done there in 2020 before they shut down indefinitely. Bummed cause there is over 80 k revenue left there, but it is what it is. It's on track to be a stronger year with New roof installs in at eight sold to this point with a pipeline to keep on top of, so I shouldn't just stop selling somewhat consistently, but this year has been a mess, and I'm not going to count on anything. Average a repair a week right now, and I know that's due to COVID cause the guys feeding me repairs did have to stop. Over COVID, I started implementing SEO, BBB accreditation; once I have the funds to invest without affecting the 3months cushion, I want to get back onto my roofing school and directories. The month I gave it a try. That made me realize that I was foolish hesitating in the first place because you can see I was enjoying the courses and content. As fast and often as I could once, I realized what it's about, but I think that the extra packages above the lowest are the move to make. After seeing the low package subscription and knowing some of the other packages come with a hands-on storm group team and roofing insights team and that lawyer thing you guys are doing in that one package might alone be worth that monthly fee. I feel without an easy teachable system and me already way beyond my comfort level in general knowledge in business or experience. Scaling next year I can see is very difficult, almost impossible without a system. This year minus a COVID delay would be as big; I cannot grow it without help and more education. Sorry so long of a response but i like to be thorough, hope you make it this far and thanks for showing interest. Have a great day.

I’ve spent 5 years in the industry and I never want to take the time to set up a compressor for my nail gun on repairs. The issue with hammer and nail on repairs is having to lift up the old shingles directly above the new shingles, which almost always damages the shingles. The nail gun would help me avoid damaging shingles on repairs, save me the time of setting up a compressor, and take out the possibility of accidentally hammering the lifted shingle above the nail. It’d also be nice to knock out my shoulder workout using that thing. I’m working my way through college right now which means I’ve gotten pretty good at taking close observations and explaining them so I’d do a fantastic job reviewing the gun on a lot of factors.

This gun would be great for small repairs and installing hip and ridge cap and drip edge. If you used the 60v battery it might last for a smaller roof. Dewalt battery nailers are the real deal. We just framed and sheeted a 2300 sq foot house using the Dewalt battery framer and an air powered Pasload nailer. The Dewalt nailer held it’s own. Can’t wait try out the battery powered roof gun 😉.

Cool gun. I was asking about it all over last spring and Dewalt reps keep saying - wait till summer of 2020. Now it's here ;) That small battery is definitely not enough, you will have to go with regular size but at least 4 A.H. battery to make it work. Review - no problem but you will have to put up with another Russian speaking foreigner accent :) I'm a DEWALT guy and I'm all about cordless tools, have tons of DEWALT cordless tools and all about it. Been thinking of picking one of these up for masonry, wondering if it would be a good fit. I would review that for you with results.

I own a small roofing company. I'd probably use this gun for small repairs or sheds. Also would use if we ran short on ridge on a Saturday and do not want to send the crew back out on Monday. Or go and pick up final check and homeowner hits us with a surprise that we need to fix before we collect. I'd be more than happy to review this product as I have a long line of Dewalt products.

Michelle Gonzales why do you think it’s only good for repairs or small jobs?
@meshellg139
@meshellg139 3 жыл бұрын
Henry with a mustache , I’d say that’s what it would be best used for. It may also be used for training a new guy , possibly finishing a full size job and you need 1 more nailer . But to complete a 20 sq job probably best to use a air compressor

Have you ever used pneumatic nailers? This cordless shoots them just as fast and you don’t have to set up a compressor or have trip hazards,

I am on a roofing crew I shingle and run tear off , one of these guns would be absolutely amazing at work when I am doing repairs and stuff that does not have easy compressor access . I have been in the trade for about three years name is Brandon

I'd be happy to review these guns on re-roof projects. This would be mean one less thing to drag around. I especially wondering how it would effect safety since hoses can be a tripping hazard and constant frustration for those of us required to wear harnesses.

Not sure if you’re sending up to Canada, but I’d give it a go on a roof, I’m in Winnipeg. As everyone else is saying, I’m pretty sure the battery nailer is most useful on repairs.

I own a small roofing business that does re roofs, repairs, vinyl siding, decks, and seamless gutters. Would love to demo one of these to see how well it works. Would work great for me if my crew was on a big job and I had a repair to do, would prevent me from having to drag a compressor. We also do additions or roofs over decks and would work great for that. I would also be interested in seeing if I could dial it down and use it for soffit or vinyl siding. Curious to know if my bigger dewalt batteries would work my efficient with it. I've been waiting and talking about these for a while. We mostly use dewalt and bostich for everything. Hope to hear back from you about doing a demo for you. Love the videos.

For repairs I think I’d use the smaller battery it came with. We’d test it out with one of our nailers with the larger battery and see how exhausted his arm is after using it til the battery dies. Would be happy to post a video review and allow you to share it.

Great video! I like how you didn't just skip over the part of the gun failing. Not sure if you sent all the nail guns out or not, but I'd love to do a review on one! I'd probably fall into the category of one of those comments you read in the video... A handyman / the guy and his buddy doing a roof / making repairs! Haha All my other tools are in the DeWalt ecosystem, so this would be perfect to test all my other batteries with too!
