I’ve had mine for the past year and I couldn’t be happier! Very effective and easy to use, silica beads take only about an hour to dry and you’re good to go! There was no way I was going to haul my 400 lbs safe upstairs, so it’s in my basement where it can get pretty humid. When I travel I leave one behind in my safe and take the other with me. I got a great deal on Amazon: 2 for $40!

I am literally thrilled you did this video. I have been meaning to get dehumidifiers for my safes (multiple) and like you said, I don't want to plug anything in. These are ideal for my use. I have old milsurps that I might forget to clean after shooting, this will at least give me a fighting chance to get to cleaning them after a few weeks and not rust out the barrels AS FAST. Thank you for reminding me. I ordered the double before I even finished watching the whole video.

I’ve been looking at dehumidifiers and I think this is the one! Definitely not wrong about living in Florida and having enough humidity to feel like 16 Siberian husky constantly breathing in your face. Your channel is so helpful through and through and it’s helped me out several times as a recent gun owner. Keep the videos coming!! 🤙🏼

Very similar to Eva Dry sold at Home Depot. The plug is built in to the product to dry out the silica. Cost is only $19 to 29.99. I have multiple units. I live in SWFL. Humidity control is very important.

@mike347442 жыл бұрын
@@Krysis219 why is it bad? I use it and curious.
@Krysis2192 жыл бұрын
@@mike34744 because the main ingredient is calcium chloride, a salt that is corrosive to steel. Damprid isn't really a desiccant, and once it is saturated what you're left with is basically a tub of corrosive salt water in your safe.

Get a dehumidifier that's big enough for your basement. Use that in the room your safe is in in conjunction with a heat rod and you'll be in good shape. If you live in a dry area you don't need to do all this.

If you don't have a water tight safe which most aren't, it's a waste. Any of the bead types dehumidifiers won't do anything because it just draws moisture in the safe. Very few safes have a door gasket now. They just have the heat expanding tape, which is nowhere near a tight seal.
@Starbuckin Жыл бұрын
I use 4 large silica gel packs in my safe and my House in Kentucky stays humid inside. I seal the door of the safe with gorilla tape and after opening 6 months to a year later the gel pack indicators are always still blue (below 30%). Very simple fix to what you are talking about and I've been doing it for years. costs nothing to take the tape off and replace it with new whenever I want to open my safe to go deer hunting or plinking.
@Travis-vm1vr Жыл бұрын
@@Starbuckin That's works to. But I open my safe daily and I'm not a fan of tape on a $3k safe. I just buy water rated safes. I have a 3/4 gallon container of beads that stay good almost a year before I have to bake them. Several of the brands made by Sports Afield have water tight safes and some are reasonably priced
