Samsara holds so many memories for me, I wore it on my wedding day for one! I haven’t smelt the re-formulation, I had the original back in the day, such a beautiful and strong perfume, hopefully it still is 👍😎👌🏽

You know, I love this story as well and it makes me love the fragrance even more! It's such a gorgeous scent and although it's been around since 1989 it doesn't have that vintage vibes that many people hate from other fragrances. Loved this list Gisele 😊 Thank you . I have few of this in my collection. I must say my absolute favorite is Santal Complet. Love Santal Basmati too. That sandalwood and rice combo is everything. Today I sampled Atelier Materi Santal Blond. Another beautiful sandalwood fragrance. I am always on the lookout for a perfect sandalwood fragrance. Love Mysore sandalwood. I studied in Mysore city and Mysore sandalwood holds a special place in my heart. It’s sad that we don’t see the real Mysore sandalwood much anymore.

Should I get a vintage EDP or EDT do you think of Samsara? I totally remember when it came out- the ads lol. Have you smelled both? It’s awesome there are still a lot of them on Ebay. Do you think the vintage ones really have 30% Mysore sandalwood? I recently got Santal Musc by Narciso- have you tried it?

Hi Sibyl! Thanks for stopping by!!!! The vintage EDP version (to my knowledge) had 30% Mysore sandalwood oil concentration if not even more, but not all vintage batches are the same. You need to look for batches between 1989 and 1992. The EDT had a lower concentration but still pretty high, but you need to look for the vintage batch of 1991 when it launched until I believe 1992 or '93. The red bottles for example are vintage but they are reformulations so I'm not sure about the oil % there. The bottles I'm talking about are the original ones, the (clear, not red). The EDP had a gold ring around the top part of the bottle while the EDT didn't have the gold ring. I've just got my EDT I can't be happier. I compared it with the modern EDP and it performs way better even being an EDT! I got like 3 more hours out of it. Hope it helps! 💜💜

Hi Chu! Peau Santal is completely different than Santal Carmin. I'd suggest Santal Blush by Tom Ford, that's a strong sandalwood but very creamy and soft at the same time. Thanks for watching, I hope it helps!

If you're talking about Samsara I'd definitely try to get a vintage EDP, but if you can't get an EDP in good condition I'll also try an EDT because it's still much better than the modern EDP. Best batches in my opinion are those between 1989 and 1992 for the EDP. EDT was launched in 1991 and that's the best one in my humble opinion. Let me know if you get your hands on one of these dear Gabbi! 😀💞

Hi Sarah! Thanks for stopping by! 🤩🤩. I know FDB source their Oud from their own plantations so I'd assume they'd also use real sandalwood in their fragrances, that being said, even if they use real sandalwood, when fragrances have ingredients from natural origin, it's common to also use synthetic notes to stabilize the formula, otherwise fragrances will never smell the same. I love Fragrance Du Bois (totally unbiased opinion because I'm not sponsored) but their fragrances are super high quality. Now, my only pet peeve with Santal Complet is performance but I make it up with layering or overspraying and so far I've been successful with this workaround. If you haven't watched it yet, I recommend that you watch my layering video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/i57Pq3RpndGGeZo) because I explain how I layer Santal Complet and make it last longer 😘😘
