Can't be mate, war cries come from the Eastern Cape. Queens, Dale, Selbourne, Hudson, Grahamstown and PE schools. Sorry to say but war cries / Igwijo is an EC thing, but true others schools do fair well Mntaka Mama kwaye ligwijo lesiXhosa this one. So war cries / amagwijo were and still are sung when boys come back from the mountain (circumcision / initiation school). The schools adopted these war cries / amagwijo into the ethos of their sporting codes more so Rugby.
