You can actually scratch digitally also, no need for vinyl unless you want to have a large set up say in a club or something like that. But you can actually scratch digitally in your own home without all the expensive equipment.

It's a time code record. The sound samples are virtually projected onto the record using a software called Native Instruments Traktor. See 2:00, 2:32 and 3:03 where he changes the projected samples. A time code record contains signals that are recognized by the software. The software plays the sounds according to these signals. If you play the record faster or backwards, the software plays the sound samples accordingly.

This is the way...great skills on the one. That's how you freestyle on the wheel of steel! I'm 48 and bustin out the new digital age with my 16 yr old son who wants to do it. Different but same concept, nothing beats the feel of vinyl under your fingers and the pull of the belt from that turntable. I told him...THAT'S how you do it right there bud, on a vinyl record. I wish I had my 1200's from back in tha day, let him get a taste ya know? You don't have to be the best at it, just doing it and making people dance or just listen? Its all good. Theeze kats just haten because they young and don't have to search for the next record anymore, load deck A, and B. psss hahaha thanks bruh.

Over 6400👍 likes 840👎 toolboxes who never put themselves out there. Masta Hanksta you have that OG style. In the 90s you had to battle for a spot, and battle even more to keep it. You respect a competitor, willing to back up the talk. I think its awesome, you learn new technology and you rock that shit. New tech's been a blessing in disguise, it seperated the men from the boys. Maybe DJ Perly got the boys shook. All these scary new buttons and ladies taking DMC titles in devastating fasion. The game has changed for ever, and it won't be the last time. ("real djs only use vinyl")that is just tapping out. Real DJs also travel too, I can trade 1000 lbs of records for a thumb drive, nuff said. Djs still use vinyl, while growing with the art. More passion to pass down, so future djs never stop. You are the best. Nobodies posting their video to prove otherwise. .

I knew Q-Bert back in the days. Him and this guy named DJ Rob were two of the best scratchers I knew. He went by Robski then but is still doing it today as DJ Rob Flow. Might have seen him in the Chappelle Show’s I Know Black People skit. But that dude was awesome.
