When I was a kid Qbert inspired me to get into djing I'm 31 and still involved in music and "the industry". I used to watch this VHS of him tripping on acid at his moms house going back and forth from room to room with wall to wall records. He had turntables set up in every room. the video was 3 or 4 hours of him just scratching and acting a fool. It inspired me to scratch for hours everyday and taught me that you have to put in hours a day to get good at anything. That VHS was from 1997 and he hasn't aged a day

Peace - DMC USA does not tolerate trolls on our youtube channel. Everyone has a right to their own opinion - but why spend your valuable time, trolling battle videos, writing negative things? Saw QBert at The End club in London in 98. The DJ booth is at ground level and in the middle of the dancefloor. QBert wasn't as well known in the UK and it was a Thursday night so the club had like 50 or so people in it by the time he came on. He gave us a 1 hour masterclass. I've never been so blown away by his mastery and also how much fun he was having. He even did a handstand and fucking scratched with his fucking toes. It was totally insane. It was such an intimate setting as we could all see exactly what he was doing being only a few feet away from him. He engaged with us all too. So bloody chilled out while doing his thing. What an artist!

FYI What is cool about Rane is that 1. they support all of the DMC USA DJ battles. I don't even think we could have the battles without them. 2. Rane knows their mixers are on point so they don't need to force everyone to use them. DMC USA uses Rane mixers for the battles. Showcase DJs can use what they want. So Qbert is using a Traktor mixer, but you can thank Rane for making that showcase possible! #ranerocks!

he's using Serato so can see visually on the laptop where he is on the waveform of the sample he is scratching - no less skill involved but makes it quicker to find your cue point, rather than having real vinyl (which costs more to replace obviously and can be hard if rare/out of print) and having a bunch of stickers as cue points
