also I know you talked about it in another video already, but QuadRemesher really is worth another mention, it really helps anyone who needs to do some retopo and imo does a better job optimizing heavy assets than ProOptimize modifier :) I even ran it on some really janky photogrammetry scans and it did an amazing job there too.

I did not understand the final plugin in detail. Does it work only on physical cameras? Or does it also work with physical cameras?
@andvfx5 жыл бұрын
Works with any renderer. Its just a framebuffer where you render your content, and you can do color correction, render comparissions, etc...
@공개미-w4l5 жыл бұрын
@@andvfx The most interesting part of me is the depth of field To do that, should I add dof to the render element?
@andvfx5 жыл бұрын
@@공개미-w4l Yes! its similar than the frishluft plugin for after effects, but directly on your frame buffer. You need to pickup a zdepth element you created, and you can adjust dof in realtime.

Hi Eloi, I looked for the ,"randomize " script and only found a 3ds Max 2009 version on script spot. It doesn't work in Max 2020. You seem to have an updated version in the video, but I'm unable to find it. I look forward to these "new plugin , scripts etc" videos you make, Thanks.

I only found this video today, I am looking for these convenient plug-ins, thank you for your selfless sharing. By the way, I don’t know if you have a way to repair the 3dsmax built-in script virus. The virus often deletes objects, lights, materials in the scene, and performs automatic save to destroy the scene file.
@andvfx4 жыл бұрын
Adam Li thanks! On newer versions of max it comes with software that analyzes for malicius code. On older versions of max you can go to the app download and you have tools to detect and clean infected scenes.
@theopanazan4 жыл бұрын
you can try www.sinisoftware.com/Products. Forensic is free, analyses your scene for optimisation but also checks the file for viruses

Hey, great video are there any scripts for browsing HDRI's, from a folder to help with look dev?
@andvfx5 жыл бұрын
Ramon Guthrie Not that I know. What I do, is load 20 hdri that I normally use with Osl, connect them to an osl switcher and use this. Then with an integer you can browse all this maps. I save all this as material library so I have it always at hand with one click.

@andvfx5 жыл бұрын
Phani Gurram I think we had lots of improvements during last 3 years. Revamped alembic, fluids simulations, MCG, datachanels, the most complete OSL implementation on the market, best splines around, viewport speed improvements, and quite a lot more.

I love max, it's been great..you can do anything and I still think its the best subd modeller out there. BUT week by week im using blender more and more ... Man, Hard ops/Box cutter, the viewport, the way you have cycles AND eevee, the node graph, the amazing community etc etc everything about it feels fresh and new.. Not the mention the updates jeeeeez seems like there is a massive update weekly! While granted Max has some awesome updates recently, it doesn't feel like it's enough. To start with, it was abit rough using blender being a 3ds max user but once u get it - and i feel like i'm starting to get it, 3Ds Max feels like a dinosaur. Small quality of life things like how easy it is to add blueprints for modelling in blender, the file browser etc etc the list goes on and on and everyday there is a new update adding to that list. My recommendation would be : if you are used to max and use it daily stick with it, it isn't going anywhere but if you are new then definitely go for blender.

@@viralbible1629 I can't imagine leaving Max for anything but Houdini to be honest. I feel Max does most things better than Maya, Blender, and C4D, and the only reason I want to move or fold in Houdini into my workflow is I feel their development is faster than Autodesk, and is more future facing for the CGI industry, but we'll have to see how Autodesk adapts. You can see this in how they are continuing to change and adapt Houdini in 18, and how fundamentally Houdini can be leveraged for multi-threading CPU simulation (not support in Max or any other tools unless I'm mistaken). If you know 3DS Max and Blender to the same deep level, I can bet that you would prefer to work in Max most of the time, because you can ultimately do more faster there in my opinion, and Arnold > Cycles by a huge margin of quality. Eevee is nice, but if you're serious about real-time, you're much better off in UE4 or Unity. But what matters most is what you're comfortable with, which comes down to workflow and budget, but it's really awesome how many quality tools are available now for different demographics. The market was once very much monopolized by Autodesk, but now I feel there are so many quality tools out there that it has become very competitive once again.
@viralbible16295 жыл бұрын
yea i feel you.. houdini is super! I was the same about leaving Max, every time i tried something else i just didn't like it, I was so used to max my shortcuts, my workflow. I certainly don't know blender like i know Max, but I must say as the weeks go on things in blender are clicking, and im finding it way more fun to use than max, when i spend like 5-6 hours on blender and then go onto max, it just feels so slow and dated like software from the 90s. but for the real modeling jobs i still use max, and i thought that would never change but as the weeks go on i just finish work using max, and am itching to use blender when i get home... its brought the fun back to 3D again for me.
