Real Aikido is an authentic self-defence martial art, which is extremely efficient and applicable in every-day, realistic situations.
The founder of Real Aikido is Grand Master Ljubomir Vračarević, SŌKE, black belt 10th Dan, who has isolated several hundred techniques from traditional Aikido, reformed them, and excluded elements of the Japanese tradition, putting emphasis on applicable value of every single technique. By means of introducing his personal knowledge acquired from other martial arts, he has created a defensive, extremely flexible system of self-defence techniques of the following basic characteristics: speed and timely reaction, continuity in execution of a technique and absolute final control over an attacker, by means of specific bars.
Flexibility of the techniques, which enables individuals to adjust their execution to their physical constitution and current situation, results in maximum efficiency of application of Real Aikido. Even though easily denied and disputed in its home country, value of Real Aikido got internationally recognized when its founder, Grand Master Vračarević got elected to the Hall of Fame, which honours outstanding athletes at the international level.
There is no age limit to Real Aikido practice. It can be practiced in form of recreation of adults, it has positive influence on development of psychophysical and motor skills in children and due to its specific qualities Real Aikido is particularly suitable for bodyguard and special army and military units training. In regard to this domain, Grand Master Vračarević has achieved exceptional results outside his country's borders -- he trained bodyguards of Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe, of Libya's President Muammar Gaddafi, he trained the Russian Police special units "Alpha" and "Cobra", as well as bodyguards of presidents of Kazakhstan and Macedonia, and head officials of the Serb Republic and Slovenia.
Since 2003, Real Aikido has been the first and the only internationally recognised Serbian martial art.

This is not the actual aikido, in this video they show serbian aikido "Real Aikido". The founder (at the end ofthe video) mixed many martial arts with aikido to make it rough and more attacking kinda way instead of passive defensive. In actual aikido you can't really perform something without breaking opponets arm peg or neck, thats why its reahearsed.

Here is the factor you have to keep in mind, if they guy points a gun as a threat: you have time to disarm. If the guy points a gun to kill, your luck is all you have.

(35 years in AIKIDO) So many comments, so little wisdom. This type of practice has merit. It is more speed than finesse. It is not good for learning everything. As for AIKI in a fight or in the ring, its works great and it is used all the time - even by people who don't study aikido. To say that no one uses aikido is like saying that no one uses karate or judo or turning or entering or shifting weight or punching or kicking. Its a ludicrous criticism made by people who don't know what they're talking about (but clearly think they can earn respect by hating out loud). You might as well say that fighters are not using CHI or KI in street fights and not using MISOGI in the ring. Aikido has been used in practical situations as long as it has been around. It has been taught to police and used widely by law enforcement. And despite the rather overt ego of calling themselves "REAL Aikido," the Russians are practicing in a way that makes them happy and that they find motivating. Good for them.

TheBlackGloves 512 Very similar and come from the same family. The Aikido I practice is very different from this, but I recognize basic foundational movements. I also practiced jiu jitsu in the past and I can say the same for that art. Both valid.
