BEST Shelling Beach! / Captiva island Florida / seashell collecting paradise / travel / fun vacation

The best shelling beach I've ever seen is in southwest Florida on a small barrier island called Captiva Island. Captiva sits right next to the popular vacation destination of Sanibel Island. There are a lot of barrier islands in southwest Florida that are renowned for their abundance of seashells. And Captiva has a beach made almost entirely of shells. This island is hands down the best beach I've ever visited for collecting seashells and the shelling is suitable for all ages. The sheer volume of seashells is staggering and the water is perfect for soaking and swimming. This island needs to be on any seashell collectors bucket list. The island is world renowned for shelling and deserves it's reputation.

Looks like an interesting place to visit for shelling. When you were in Kauai did you hunt for the sunrise shell, that's one i'd be interested to find.I imagine that Sanibel island might hold some interesting specimens of seashells also.

I did keep my eye out for sunshine shells in Kauai but only found chipped ones. Lots of people hit the beach super early in the morning (before sunrise) in order to collect and sell them.
