Best Size Silver Bar to Stack Right Now? Surprising Answer Revealed

I found that buying a silver kilogram bar from the Germania Mint was a great way to get one of the lowest premiums or the most silver ounces for my dollar. But there are smaller sizes too, so which size is the best size bar? How do the premiums for the silver bars stack up the premiums for an American Silver Eagle?
How far does your dollar go when buying silver? Is one size bar a better value than others? Do you stack silver or gold on a steady basis?
Demand for physical silver and physical gold is still high. 2022 could be a repeat of 2020 and 2021 with interest in holding physical precious metals high, and supply not keeping up with demand. Premiums over spot price is high compared to past years, but finally there may be some relief. Are you a gold stacker, silver stacker, or both?
I compared the silver premiums of the American Silver Eagle, to six different sized silver bars from the Germania Mint. From 100 gram all the way up to 1000 gram (or silver kilogram). Including the popular ten ounce size bar.

The biggest stacking mistake I have made through the years was buying into the notion that Eagles are the best and safest way to stack. That goes for both silver and gold. I have in recent years focused on the highest quality with the lowest premium. In the long run it’s about ounces.

Without doing the extensive research you did, I've found 10oz bars always worked best for me. It beats buying coins as far as premiums go (even though I love stacking coins too!) without waiting too long to invest (because that's no fun) or risking missing price action

I just found this video... Although I had already made my decision to go for 10 oz silver bars, this video more or less confirms that I made the right choice. The 10 oz bar occupies most of my silver ( RCM / Sunshine / Britannia ). Find they are most convenient for stacking and fit my budget. If I were to go higher the 100 oz Britannia bar is an eye grabber.

After I hit 200 ounces of Silver coins, I switched my focus to ten-ounce bars, and stuck with a more recognizable brand. I also prefer ten ounce bars, as I'm able to buy one every month very comfortably. That adds up quickly!

I have to say the smartest way to buy silver is 100 oz bars, lowest premiums, and if you need money…you need money. Who goes down to their LCS and sells one oz at a time? Sell 100 oz and get’er done.

That's some great research there my friend. As much as i would love to own a kilo bar, liquidity always plays on my mind. I've managed to liquidate a couple 10oz Scottsdales in recent years without any problem, but feel that there would be less buyers able to afford a kilo. I'm sure dealers would buy them, but you probably wouldn't get a great deal.

Great summary. I did a similar one, but I added the bid prices as well, so that I can see how much premium will I be paid back when selling a product. When you subtract the premium you get back from the premium you have to pay upon your purchase, you will get an estimate of the total premium cost. I did it for gold as well, and I noticed that pure gold coins cost you the least. When it comes to bars, stick to those over 100g (3,22 oz) for even better deals.

Good analysis, the only thing I would add is shipping. Monument Metals you need 199 in orders for free ship. That technically should be included if you doing this type of comparison in my opinion because that adds to the cost per item (those that don’t reach the free shipping threshold). These Bars are a excellent Purchase I also have them in 100g , 5oz & Kilo Bars and they are very nice and well crafted compared to some other Generic Pressed Bars out there on the market .. Side by side I would consider them to be in lined along with the 10oz RCM Royal Canadian Mint Bars and Britannia Bars as my Top 3 good video ☕👍

I really like the Germania Mint Kilo bars, however after stacking I thought How to make change? I'm going back to American Eagles, or gold. one Ounce. I don't know if the recent royal mint Gothic half crown 2 & 5 oz were the final one of the "Great Engravers" but a gothic bar would be frikkin amazing. I guess they will do a "3 Graces" bar if they are aligning the Bars to the Great Engravers as that was the next one in the series after the Una & the Lion. Ok, you only covered purchase price/premium. 10oz bars are also easy to stack, decent weight (not too low /not too heavy), fit well in small safes, and when the time comes to sell, the transaction of one 10oz bar will not cause red flags (bank/tax bullshit).

The premium on ASE is too high. It's been years since I bought any. I've been sticking to Maple Leafs and Britannia's. The Roo's have an even cheaper premium. I used to buy 10oz bars until I moved. Now I have to pay sales tax on bars. I did the math and buying 10 Maple Leafs or Britannia's sales tax free run $6-9 dollars cheaper than buying a 10oz bar with sales tax.
