I used to rock the Lawrence of Arabia SMLE but when I unlocked the Martini Henry I just fell in love. The super slow rate of fire forced me to slow down and make every shot count, which helped me hit more targets. And it's great to have on Operations defence because you can just drop so many people.

Of course! My play style hasn't changed and I'm still getting pretty consistent kills. I naturally aim for the chest and above anyway, and it still does so much damage that one shot from my pistol just finishes them off.

I like using the bayonet because it adds a whole new layer of gameplay, and the sluggishness you refer to doesn't really matter. If you are in a situation where you need to raise the rifle quickly, you are probably already outgunned. However, I've been in many situations where using the bayonet got me out of a bad situation. Whether to dash behind cover or ambush an enemy around a corner, it definitely provides more of an advantage than disadvantages

Alex Perruci yes I agree! When you need to cross a open field and a sniper is homing in on you, bayonet charge behind cover and keep on fighting! Plus I got 4 back to back bayonet kills on Monte Grappa as a Scout running to B so my bayonet is staying on for all my weapons

Love your video's. I'm crap at sniping but your videos are so informative and encouraging I keep practising. Keep them coming your content is head and shoulders above the more well-known Battlefield video makers. My preference is Support. Primary: M1909 Benet-Mercie Telescopic. Pistol: M1912. I rarely pull it, though. Gadget 1: Ammo pouch. Gadget 2: The crossbow launcher. Grenades: Incendiary. Melee: The spiked club. Just because I love the brutal animations!

I've found the trench periscope to be more useful than the spotting flare. It's saved me from counter snipers much more often than the flare spotter has saved me from closer enemies. :o

Sniper shields are the absolute worst. You could see it from anywhere and all you need is to put one through the slit. (TWSS). Love it when dudes use sniper shields or high powered scopes from under 200m.

I think sniping really comes down to the rifle itself. If you go on websites they give you stats for weapons' "sweet spots" which is where a one shot kill will take place anywhere else than the head if you are a certain distance away from the target. So if your looking for a long range sniper go with the m1903 sniper with a 100-50 metere sweet spot.

Martini/Mars complement each other well for PTFO scouting. Mars Automatic is the best sidearm in the game beyond a dozen or so meters, so it can cover you when the Martini is too slow. I hope that they add more customisation options for iron sights in this game. Make some more and let us switch around most variants on any gun.

I'm a ranged sniper. I'll operate at 400+ metres. My long range loadout is: Primary: Gewehr 98. Secondary: Mars Automatic. Gadgets: Soot flare, and trench scope: Grenade: Incendiary. Melee: shovel, or hatchet. If I'm going for shorter range, I like the Lebel Infantry, and if I'm going CQB: Russian 1895 Infantry. Nothing else really changes.

THANK YOU for the pistol recommendation. I had to stick to the Russian 1895 sniper with the telescopic sight to do long range shooting because close range in the action my M1911 didn't help me out much. I didn't think much about it until i realized how many times i've been killed in a pistol shoot out match between me and an enemy

I think people need to know that the carbine version of the SMLE will load the next round without having to zoom out. I fell in love with this variant for short to medium range sniping. It definitely was a good rifle to prepare you for the Martini Henry IMHO.

Good ay, Average Sniper, I would like to say thanks for all you,re hard work , you,re video,s rock . I am a retired 53 year old dude , that now has time to play all day and half the night lol. I sore one of you,re video,s and got, battlefield 1 straight away . played multiplayer, for the first time ever in my life. I got hammered as a sniper in close with the squad , so did the noob thing and started camping. I did won,t to play with the squad, But it got disheartening getting killed by hell hip firing heavy machine guns. I picked up a heavy machine gun and got 32 kills in 5 minutes of time. As opposed to my 0 to 12 kills as a sniper a game. Then I sore how VALVUBE a good sniper is in close. A surgeon taking out the most dangerous objects to him and the squad , and if car,t , then he is marking them too help the lads keep safe . So know i,m in close and getting hammered , one out of 20 times i get the kill and not killed , now and then I get one of thought.s refex kills were you ,head kill in less time then the enemy can aim. It is a rush, love it . Could you do a video where you show use noods , how to play so you are a good help in close to the rest of the and team. Shooting that smoke gun to see the enemy , marking tanks . and so on. Thanks and good shooting .

I think the M1903 Sniper is the best long range rifle because it has the longest sweet spot and it has the least amount of bullet drop

Whether the bayonet actually reduces your speed to aim by a noticeable level or not, it also encourages you to bayonet charge, which may not be the best thing to do most of the time. Not having the bayonet makes you play a little less recklessly, I think.

I love russian 1895, but infante only, because of its accuracy, dmg and firing speed. As secondary i use revolvers, because i use secundary only at close ranges where revolvers are extremely powerful. Of course i use spot flare which is pretty useful when taking objectives and helping your teammates and as second gadget i use periscope. Ppl dont use it, but when whole your team knows where the tank/plane/sentry is, it becomes extremely useful and makes enemies useless. Periscope can lead your team to victory +gain you additional score. Sometimes when i play party, Im just spoting enemies to my squad from range while theyre taking objectives. If you want ask me or tell me your opinion :) hopefully this helps

Agree entirely that it's all about preferences and what works for you. Now, to indulge in some loadout wanking. I use one of three rifles, depending on range: 1903 Sniper, MK III Marksman, MK III Carbine. The 1903 yields the highest K:D because it's so long range, but you are not contributing as much to your squad and getting fewer kills overall. Always use the spotting flare and, depending on whether I'm attacking or defending, it's either K bullets (attacking) or IC trip bomb (defending). I like the Bodeo pistol, because one shot anywhere above the waist will finish off a guy I already hit. Anyway. Fucking love this game.

Eric Gil Yeah as a medic sniper it's alot of fun very good for counter sniping ,i win most firefights against scouts but over longer distances you have to be careful as the scout can easily one shot you .

Andrew Nuckinfuts I thought exactly the same why use a sniper variant in a medic class right ? I've come to the conclusion the Mondragon Sniper is built for close to medium range but you can shoot long distance as well if needed i use it as a counter-sniper as it takes 4 shots to kill headshots are one shot :) plus you can heal yourself all the time it's a beautiful weapon recommended for medics imo .

I am all about the Russian infantry and sniper. Something about the lever action of that rifle that makes me gravitate towards it. Then the Martini Henry for some fun and making people salty. I've seen so many people bitching about the nerf to the Martini but post patch use of that gun I still see it as a beast in those mid range engagements. SMLE Lawrence of Arabia is my #3 sniper.

Have you ever tried the C93 pistol? It's the Supports Rank 10 pistol, but can be equipped on all classes. I use it on my Sniper class for its moderate damage which rivals the Frommer Stop and the recoil in ADS is easy. It only feels vertical and I find it more reliable then the Frommer.

I moved to the SMLE Carbine, I think it is better than the Martini. Been doing very well with it. Also it allows you to see around you while aiming down sights, unlike the scoped variations, but still has some zoom.

When I watch you, Jack, and a couple of others, I notice that *your* guys' game play looks next to nothing like *my* game play. Mine seems *much* more hectic and random... For example, at 9:04, you're up on that rock outcropping, standing up, casually picking people off, and two tanks come rolling along. There's no chance I could pull that off. The tanks would machine gun me (which seems *way* too accurate at that range), the main gun would blast me, or I'd get counter-sniped from some guy 300m across the map at the G flag. Even when I'm way off taking long range shots, lying in a bush next to tree, I get one-shotted by a fixed artillery piece... I mean, I feel like I have a neon sign over my head. Don't get me wrong, I'm old and slow, so I *expect* to do poorly vs. run-and-gunners, but there's not a chance I could do what you did through most of this video and live for more than a few seconds. I normally only play one or two games in a row, and never at a set time, so I usually just choose a Quickmatch, with 64 players. How do you choose matches? Thanks for the videos, btw!

I don't want to take up too much of your time so I understand if this gets lost in all these comments... but just in case; Have you had much experience with the Gewehr M. 95? You mention you prefer to be close to the action and, although it lacks a 1 hit kill chest "sweet spot", it's great for close range due to the fast fire rate. Just curious as to your opinion.
